The 450-seat Thomas Auditorium on the campus of Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, NC was at least 3/4 full. White people from all over came to hear white people talk about how to have fewer brown people in our country. The two-hour "Immigration Town Hall Meeting" was paid for with your tax dollars, and I didn't hear a voice of dissent all night long. The Taylor for Congress team was there shooting footage for advertisements both during and after the event - call it government subsidized campaigning...

I think he is pretty hard pressed to be the pot calling the kettle black.
In my opinion, his presentation of the meeting was biased and his comments on the "all the old white people" were no better than his accusations. All those old white people were legal voters.
Illegal is illegal, we have just had a huge "employment service" ring busted that was made up of mostly Eastern Europeans. It is has been stated by government sources that 85% of all of the illegals in this country are from Mexico, so it is not a racial issue, it is an issue of nationality.
It appears to me that the only people that seem to be trying to make it racial are the illegals that are trying to play a race card to bypass the laws and gain politically.
I think this guy put a slant on all this because he was upset at being outnumbered and I feel that by stating his opinions as fact he has left himself wide open.

This is the typical hard left liberal level of discussion that you read on bluenc. Read down thru the comments and you can read the KKK race rants of the commenters.

What is alarming to me is, the Left claims to go by the Constitution, but let someone point out the Constitution says the border are suppose to be protected, and that the 14th Amendment only applies to those that fall under the jurisdiction of the U.S. and they act like its not true.

That tells me why the Left wants to have a Constitution, that is flexible, easily changed, and what they call a living document. Whatever the touchy feely whim they might have at the moment, would be used to try and change what they didn't like, in the Constitution. Such as secure borders, and no citizenship for those not in the jurisdiction of the U.S.

I'm telling you, these Liberal/Progressive Socialist are dangerous to the saftey and sovereignty of this country.

    Immigration forum stresses stricter enforcement

FLAT ROCK – Highlighting the interest of many mountain residents in immigration issues, more than 200 people gathered at Blue Ridge Community College this evening for a two-hour forum on on the topic sponsored by U.S. Rep. Charles Taylor, R-Brevard, and featuring U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, a Colorado Republican.

Both congressmen stressed the need to fully enforce immigration laws, whether existing rules or part of any new legislation.

“You have to do something about employers who are willing to hire people who are here illegally,” said Tancredo, an outspoken critic of illegal immigration. “The costs of supporting cheap labor are enormous.”

Marilyn Litewski of Hendersonville, 67, said concerns about illegal immigration led her to attend. “Something has to be done,” she said. “We’re concerned about our borders and security.”

But many local farmers rely on foreign labor, said WNC resident Bruce Tipton, 55, who grew up in Madison County. “Our farmers have become dependent on this foreign labor, whether legal or illegal. The fact is, that the indiscriminate deportation of our farm labor will spell disaster for our farmers.”

As in other elections this fall, immigration is an issue in the 11th Congressional District race between Taylor, an eight-term incumbent, and Waynesville Democrat Heath Shuler.
Here's a balanced article that reported on the meeting.

JohnB2012 your avatar is great! I got a good laugh, because that's just the way I feel about politicians and illegal immigration.

One of the comments that Congressman Tancredo made that made people catch their breath was the that farmers had access to unlimited farm visas. He said there was no limit to work visas. And then he asked, "do you know how many farm visas have been requested?", Just 40,000 of them. And the reason is the farmers have to take responsibilty for them, file all the paper work and make sure the foreign workers abide by the visa. Which one of the requirements is, they can only stay in the country for ten months.

It seems the American people are susidizing these businesses, and they need to be held accountable.

Yea, I talked to this little fruit cake. I told him how deplorable it would be for anyone to make up stories to malign the many good people that were there.

It is quite a sin to call everyone names and pretend that those fine people there had anything to do with Nazis or the KKK.

I guess these loony leftists do not realize how much they damage their own credibility writing fiction pieces like this.

Doesn't bother me one bit. I don't mind being called names by little worms with no backbone that resort to these tactics because they cannot debate the facts.

He did me a favor by recording my speech. I even mention what he is doing with his attacks in my speech. Now I can get a transcript.

    Thank you Gordon!
