IBM's phony "virtual reality" propaganda

Yesterday on PBS's "Frontline" episode "Digital Nation", Douglas Rushkoff, self-styled "digital nation guru" interviewed IBM executives as part of the show. ( It was actually a rerun, but no matter).

While IBM could hardly deny that most of their employees are offshored [to India] nowadays, they seemed to have a very slick marketing facace to try to confuse the issue.

It's built around "virtual reality". They toured Mr. Rushkoff around an office building in Westchester, NY which was filled with empty cubicles. ( I am guessing that by now, the offices must be closed or rented to someone else.)

The story was that employees were "working from home" using virtual reality software for meetings - like the "Sims".

The truth, as we know, was that there USED to be people working in those VERY NICE offices in a VERY NICE suburban office park - but the jobs were simply offshored to India.

IBM snowjobbed Frontline. I emailed them about it- and they admitted to it.

More proof that PBS is simply a corporate tool.
