They Thought They Were Free


"What no one seemed to notice was the ever widening gap between the government and the people. And it became always wider.....the whole process of its coming into being, was above all diverting, it provided an excuse not to think....for people who did not want to think anyway gave us some dreadful, fundamental things to think about.....and kept us so busy with continuous changes and 'crises' and so fascinated.....by the machinations of the 'national enemies,' without and within, that we had no time to think about these dreadful things that were growing, little by little, all around us.....

"Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, 'regretted,' that unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these 'little measures'.....must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing.....Each act is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next.

"You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join you in resisting somehow. You don't want to act, or even talk, alone.....you don't want to 'go out of your way to make trouble.' But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes.

"That's the difficulty. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves, when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed.

Someone has said: "No American is safe as long as Congress is in session."

What did they mean by this?

If Congress continues to enact dangerous, unconstitutional laws, and if the general level of integrity and dedication of Congressmen is lacking, people stand in extreme danger from the very ones that they have elected to rule over them.

The founding fathers created a Government with a Bill of Rights to protect American citizens from the excesses of bad leadership. But, in recent years, especially, the Constitution is being ignored, and has been allegedly referred to by the present President as "only a piece of paper", ( to be ignored at will.) This from a man who has taken the oath of office as President twice, to uphold and defend the Constitution. So how can we correct this ridiculous situation, aside from impeachment, which is slow and unwieldly.

The primary emphasis must be to assure that our basic form of government can not be tampered with, namely, that the united States of America shall exist as a sovereign independent Republic under its Constitution for perpetuity, unless changed by a legitimate Constitutional amendment. (This means that the NAFTA, CAFTA and the coming FTAA Agreements or "Fast Track" Treaties which can and do change the Constitution by a single majority vote, such is the case of the pending FTAA Agreement. This must be stopped. But who is authorized, ready, and responsible to do it? We must provide the necessary corrections at once.

There must be a new Congressional watchdog committee in place whose sole responsibility is to review all legislation, past , present and future, and to present it to the Supreme Court for determination as to its constitutionality. This must have the highest priority for immediate action on the Court and in Congress. All persons bearing responsibility for the promotion of such legislation, and voting for it, shall be severely censored for so doing, including any outside organizations promoting it.

Another requirement must be that all members of Congress, the Supreme Court, or all others employed by the Federal government, must have provided a complete listing of all the organizations with which they have been associated since the age of 21. At every election, the complete listing of all such organizations must be listed, or their election shall be declared null and void. Failure to include all associations must be dealt with severely.

Organizations, such as the Council On Foreign Relations, or CFR, which have been for many years acting as the shadow government, holding the highest offices in the land, and appointing its agents at will to entire presidential administrations while consistently working to subvert the their best interests. Such organizations must be exposed to public scrutiny, and banned from having any official part at any level of government. Such treason has been going on now for 84 years, every since its founding in 1921. A clear definition of treason must be declared and accepted. All those found guilty of such must be removed from office immediately.

There are many details to be filled in, but the costs would be minimal, since the general outline is already in place. But traitors in powerful places have seen to it that it is seldom enforced. Even now there is legislation pending that is backed by the President and the CFR which was scheduled to be approved by Congress by yesterday, December 31, 2005. It will destroy our country by allowing merger with Canada and Mexico by a single vote of the majority. The media has been absolutely silent about it, a prime example of the ownership and control by the moneyed elite, primarily the big banksters who own the voting stock of the media.

Should this be attempted, there will be a weeping and moaning by Left and its allies, like there was when Senator Joseph McCarthy attempted to expose the Communists in Government back then. Their screaming would be even louder at this time. It will take a miracle from the Lord to accomplish this protection for our survival this time. The fact that the legislation for the FTAA Agreement just missed its deadline of December 31and the recent vote of the CAFTA Agreement hinged on a single vote among 263 votes cast, while congressmen had their time for casting ballots extended to allow for the bribing of hold- outs. A very sad situation which, will get no better until the treason is exposed and stopped.

What a great article. WE are exactly in the situation of the Germans except in reverse. WE are the ones to be exterminated.

WE are the Americans.

The ones who always fought for freedom and since our existence stopped world tyranny have alas become the tool for it.

That is a SCARY analysis. The sad thing is that I think it is TRUE. You just look around you and you see what has MADE AMERICA the GREAT COUNTRY it has been slowing being jerked out from under you. I can't blame CONGRESS as much as I blame Bush and Company because I think, after 9/11, Congress, as well as all AMERICANS, was willing to agree to ANYTHING to prevent another attack like that. We ALL had a knee-jerk reaction and Congress made a DRASTIC MISTAKE in giving Bush free rein to do whatever he "deemed best for our national security". In one stroke of the pen, they have signed away the very GUTS of our country. I CERTAINLY don't EXCUSE Congress for THEIR role but we have sat back and watched Bush and Company destroy our country with impunity.

THE TIME HAS COME TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.
