If I were running for president...

list what you would run on, what you would change or try to influence. here is my list.

    - I would propose a law that No state or government owned or sanctioned entities can be owned or operated by foreign nations, investors or companies

    - I would enforce current immigration laws and ramp up the current "Operation return to sender" while deputizing National Gaurd and Army Reservist as well as the Navy to help protect our borders and ports.

    - I would dissolve the Federal Reserve System. Since this is not a government owned entity and it violates the constitution I would dissolve it. If you think it's government owned then do some research. It's bad for America and quite frankly it's a communist idea that we do not need.

    - I would add to the Equal Opportunity Employment acts that it is illegal to refuse employment to anyone who speaks English and certain foreign language, except for certain circumstances (like an actor who needs to speak italian, spanish etc..)

    - I would make English the official language of the Gov't and the Nation and stop offering most services in other languages. All visitors who apply LEGALLY to enter the USA will be informed of this decision and that not knowing English could make them vulnerable here.

    - I would finally build that fence that Bush doesn't seem to want to fund.

    - I would adjust federal immigration laws to explicitly include ALL state and local police departments.

    - I would adjust our education system to a privatized/sanctioned system. Where schools who don't meet standards fail and parents will have the choice to move their students to another school. But, schools will still have to meet Gov't standards as well.

    - I would lessen the FCC's control of the media and ownership rules to allow more expressive media to abound. Currently rules make it impossible for anyone who makes less than $250,000/yr. to own a tv or radio station. This would give us a richer media experience and relenquish the USA from the control of Viacom, CBS, Disney, GE, Clear Channel, Entercorp and Turner Broadcasting.

    - I would eliminate censorship in media. Technology has made it possible to block stations on TV and radio that could have language you or your kids may not wish to be exposed to. This will be how media is operated in the future, not by stiff fines and censorship.

    - I would maintain and preserve the way the internet is ran now and would not allow a system that would force some users to pay more for accessing popular sites. (Net Neutrality)

    - I would make a law which I call "The Right to Run" This would force newspapers, magazines, websites, radio stations, tv channels and other media operated within the USA to offer advertising for free to political candidates during election year. Advertising would be taken as a lump and divided amongst all candidates to even out their media reach. This should get us back to more issues and debates and less 'most money wins'.

    - I would encourage congress to stop stuffing bills with unrelated laws (Pork). Like the current spinach and penut bills stuffed in to the last troop spending budget approved by congress.

    - I would work with Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize, Panama, El Salvador, Peru and other Latin American countries to better their economies without illegal immigration to the USA. This would include fixing corrupt government policies, increaseing wealth distribution, building better water facilities and distribution, building better power plants and distribution.

    - I would outlaw the sale and/or ownership of ports, airports, train stations, rail lines, highways, etc.. to foreign nations, investors or individuals who are not US citizens.

    - I would outlaw 'inland ports' and terminate the contract Mexico has to build one in Kansas City MO.

    - I would fund stem cell research and encourage the health advances it could offer.

    - I would make sure seniors and mentally handicapped patients had free health care and drugs from the Gov't, yes is said FREE.

    - I would work to make health insurance more affordable for young adults and underprivileged citizens.

    - I would work to deter frivilous law suits against doctors, this would help cut down their insurance cost thus reducing the cost of doctors.

    - I would make a law forbidding insurance companies to raise rates in one area due to issues in another city, state or region. This is non-proportionate and hurts many average Americans.

    - I would fund and vigorously pursue alternative fuels. It would be my hope to be completely energy dependent by the end of my first term and to cut ties with OPEC.

    - I would fund NASA to build a permanent base on the Moon and to finally travel to Mars.

    - I would protect American workers from big business interest in cheap labor by cutting back immigration Visa's and monitoring those given work permission here.

    - I would tax outsourcing on companies in an attempt to deter them from doing so.

    - I would tax money that leaves the USA for another country via postage or transfer.

    - I would investigate companies who are based in foreign nations for Tax fraud.

    - I would increase the min. wage to $7.50/hr

    - I would revoke business rights to do business in the nation if in one year they had three separate instances of being convicted of hiring illegal aliens.

I like most of them except,
I would add to the Equal Opportunity Employment acts that it is illegal to refuse employment to anyone who does not speak English, except for certain circumstances (like an actor who needs to speak italian, spanish etc..) all but this one (was that a typo)
I would fund stem cell research and encourage the health advances it could offer.
    and this one

    and this one
My father was recently diagnosed with a genetic disease which could cause his brain to slowly erode him into a vegetative state. I have a 50/50 chance of having this disease. Stem cell research holds the key to curing millions like my father and his mother who died from this disease.

(yes it was typo, i fixed it)
If you have not payed close attention Spanish has taken over most kitchens, construction sites and landscaping companies.

This provides an unfair and frankly deragatory barrier to employment for Americans who need those jobs and only helps perpetuate big businesses claims that "Americans won't do the jobs".

To prove my point I sent an 18 year old young man to 10 different fast food restaurants to apply as a cook. This included McDonald's, Wendy's, Chicken and Rice, Church's Chicken and other area places. All of them told him he needed to know Spanish to work in the kitchen but that he could work at the register (the least needed job in fast food).

Take a look next time at how many cooks/diswashers there are. You will see 1 or 2 people at counters/windows and about 3-4 in the back kitchen area. By establishing a neutral hiring policy this would give EVERY American EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, not just Americans who can speak a foreign language we would truley provide EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT.

Obviously some occupations would be exempt (translators, teachers, actors and persons who work in an ethnic restaurant etc...) But this would protect American Construction, Food Service and other jobs.

    Taking them point by point:

I don't think that I have much of a problem with that one.

Yeah, but I think that simply cutting off all benefits and prosecuting the living daylights out of companies and individuals who hire illegals would be a more cost-effective approach.

You would probably not survive this one, though I would take the same approach. The Federal Reserve is evil of the highest order. It is the legalized theft of nothing less than the entire country by subverting the monetary supply and subjecting the populace to a massive tribute to European banks for which we gain nothing of value in return. I wouldn't just dissolve the Fed. I would seize and repatriate all gold and other assets currently held by the Fed and I would prosecute the Fed's members for fraud.

I think you misspoke in this case, but I understand what you mean. I'm not sure that such a law would be necessary or desirable if other means were used to limit illegal immigration.

I agree, but I think that the warning would be unnecessary. Most people understand that not knowing the language of a country they are visiting will be a liability.

    Yep.

I wouldn't do that. Doing so would unnecessarily tread on the separation of powers. I would, however, allow states and municipalities to enforce immigration law just as they may enforce other federal laws.

No, I wouldn't go that route. It is unnecessary and undesirable for the federal government to set standards. Education should be left to local government and people of a free nation should be free to decide whether they want to participate in public education or to home school, use private institutions, or form local collective educational organizations.

I'm not sure about this one either. I think that the issue at hand is the overcrowding of bandwidth. Perhaps digital media should be considered as a free-market alternative.

This would depend on what you mean by censorship. I think that government should retain the ability to block pronography and other morally offensive content under the aegis of moral turpitude.

    I support internet deregulation.

I understand the intent, but I wouldn't go that route because I don't think that the government should have the power to require private businesses such as newspapers to do anything. Alloing such power would undermine the principle of a free press. There is a need to open up the system to candidates from outside the controlled parties, but I don't think that this is the answer.

The simplest way to accomplish this would be by elimination of omnibus bills. I think that we should seriously consider a constitutional amendment that would strictly limit the length of laws (say a given word limit, such as 10,000 words) and that would require each provision to be voted on separately. I would also support an automatic sunset provision on ALL legislation so that laws would have to be re-approved periodically rather than just squatting on the books once enacted. We have far too many laws on the books, and over-regulation is the enemy of liberty.

I understand the idea behind this, but I believe you understimate the problem. The issue with most of these nations is endemic corruption. You can't just "fix" the problems that you cite, because the government with whom you would have to work are the source of these problems and because the voting populations of these countries are, in many cases, themselves too accepting of corruption and too uneducated to do anything about it in any case. Other countries' problems are their own. There is no reason for us to go out of our way to try to "fix" their problems when we have enough trouble fixing our own.

That may be trickier than you think. I am generally more for laissez faire, but regulation of these sorts of facilities could probably be justified under the commerce provisions of the Constitution. I guess my problem with your suggestion is that it presumes that the federal government should have say in issues that may be more properly addressed by the states in which these facilities may exist.

I understand your intent, but I don't know that "inland ports" per se are the problem. All commercial airports, for example, are already inland ports.

I oppose this. Many taxpayers oppose tinkering with human tissues in this manner and so it is not right to force them to fund it. I don't think that he federal government should block any research that is not immoral on its face, but that is a separate issue from funding such an enterprise with tax dollars. Let the companies that will profit from these technologies invest in the research.

I oppose socialism. There is no such thing as "free" health care. Someone has to pay for it. I think that we need to get government out of health care entirely, and that includes reducing the FDA to nothing more than an advisory body. In a free society, people should be able to make their own health care decisions, including the use of alternative therapies, but they should also be held personally accountable for the consequences of their decisions. Health care for the poor, indigent, handicapped, etc. should be the role of private charity or, at worst, of local government.

How? I oppose federal tinkering in private enterprise. The simple fact is that if the government got its sticky fingers out of things like health care, we would all have more money in our pockets to see to our own needs.

This is another one that sounds good but is fraught with peril. How do you define "frivolous"? I think that the only thing the Executive Branch should be able to do under the separation of powers is to appoint judges who will make prudent determinations as to what is and is not a frivolous suit. This is a judicial issue, not a Presidential issue.

You would make a law? At what level of government? This seems to be pretty invasive. Again, I oppose governmental regulation of free enterprise in most cases. If government wasn't mandating insurance at so many levels, consumers would be better able to shop rates and coverage and the rules of free enterprise would prevail. The only case in which I could justify governmental interference would be if there was evidence of collusion or other blatantly unfair practices under anti-trust laws.

Again, this is not the business of government but rather of free enterprise. When alternative fuels make sense, the free market will support them. In the mean time, there is absolutely no constitutional justification for spending the hard-earned money pf taxpayers on such stuff.

To what end? How would you justify this enormous expense to taxpayers?

I agree with the general idea but not the verbiage. It should not be the role of government to seek to influence free enterprise for the benefit of one party or another. Immigration should be limited for many reasons, but federal interference in free enterprise per se is not one of the better ones.

I'm not sure I understand this one. ANY company that may be engaging in tax fraud should be investigated.

To what end? I oppose minimum wages, as they represent a socialistic intrusion into free enterprise. Let market forces determine what is and is not a fair wage for a given job. High minimum wages just place school kids out of work.

Look, not all jobs are or should be careers. Not everyone working is supporting a family. Minimum wages discourage prospective workers from obtaining the education and skills necessary to earn a good wage.

I'm not sure about this one either. The government doesn't or at least should not have the power to prohibit a "business" from "doing business" in a free country. If the owner of a company is violating the law, he should be prosecuted. If a supervisor or officer is violating the law, he should be prosecuted and the company should be fined pursuant the law. But the idea of "revoking business rights" presumes that the government has godlike power to confer "business rights." No such power was ever intended to exist. Some professions and businesses require licensure, so I suppose that the revocation of license could be a legal sanction in the event that the person or business is found guilty of a serious violation, but that would seem to be a separate issue.

In all, I am concerned that many of your solutions presume that the government has or should have more dictatorial authority than was ever willingly conferred to it through the grants of authority represented by the mutual compact of the federal and state constitutions. It is my carefully considered opinion that less government is better government.

    dragons5,

Look at it this way, if there are no provisions in the Constitution for the things that are being done right now, then they get the chop.

The 14th Amendment should be re-written to state, that all the People who were omitted, or concidered non-Citizens by and from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, will forever more share the same Rights, to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

All Government afforded "priveliges" and entitlements no longer apply.

The Rights of the People are far more valuable and are not surrenderable to any form or institution of man. Their Rights are granted to all the People by their Creator, at birth.

These Rights apply to Naturalized Citizens, and those who have emigrated to the Untied States of America in a legal form. These Rights do not apply to U.S. Territories, since they are not States in the Union, which are seperate entities bound only by the common goals we share between the several States.

These Rules, and Regulations like the the Founding Documents have no bearing to non-citizens, or their posterity, or those who are employed by foreign Nations, and are here in an official capacity, since they share no loyalties to the United States of America, other than those layed down in Treaties with their Country of origin. Also it should be noted that Foreign Dignitaries are already protected by International Diplomatic Rules, and Regulations.

It should also be made law that it is illegal to run for any public office, from the Presidency down to the local Sheriff unless you can prove that your ancestry here can go back a minimum of at least three generations. This is to avoid divided loyalties between Nations, and the People.

The whole point of this, being to free the People of the United States of America from the bondage they have been cast into over the years from the end of the un-Civil War to the present, by those who have had in the past, and present more sinister plans for the People, and the United States of America.

It would reduce the evermore increasing entanglements of Government. In their interactions with the People, and would restore the responsibilty to the People that is Rightfully theirs concerning their elected officials, from the Fed. all the way down to the smallest local Government Entities.

It would probably mean that television would suffer, and the mindless entertainment espoused by most networks, who would have to change to something more valuable, as the People would be far more intelligent, and less likely to be ignorant, as we would all again have a real say in the Country's future.

So it's not really all that complex to restore the Republic, but it can't happen overnight, as this would cause the Country to hemmorage. It took over 100 years to get this far down the path of the Dark Side, and it must be implemented in steps to dig out of the hole that we, and our officials have dug us into. So that we and our posterity can again bask in the light of Rightousness, and the Blessings of Liberty. But a pre-requisite of all things good, require the People to be intelligent, and of good character, and good will.

    Just my .50 cents worth.
