Illegal Alien holed up in a church is no Rosa Parks

Anyone matching collectivist doctrine in public is either Rosa Parks or MLK to the left.

    ARTICLE EXERPT:

    QUOTE
Immigrant activist holed up in church is no Rosa Parks

    August 22, 2006

    BY MARY MITCHELL SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST

Elvira Arellano is definitely no Rosa Parks.

I even doubt that Arellano has any idea who Parks really was.

Because if she did, she wouldn't have hid inside the Adalberto United Methodist Church instead of reporting to immigration authorities for deportation. But with her son in tow, Arellano and her supporters could have marched into the immigration office and showed America exactly what the present immigration laws really mean:

That a single mother can be separated from her child; that husbands can be snatched from their wives; that working-class families can be torn apart simply because America has waited far too long to craft a fair and reasonable immigration policy.

Maybe then more of us would respect her stance.

But a week ago, Arellano, who is being described as an immigration activist, fled to the West Side church seeking sanctuary. The church is pastored by longtime social activist Rev. Walter "Slim" Coleman. She has vowed to stay put, and Coleman has promised to let her stay put.

"I'm strong, I've learned from Rosa Parks -- I'm not going to the back of the bus. The law is wrong," Arellano told reporters last week.

Despite the rhetoric, the 31-year-old Arellano

Your not American and you are not anything compared to Rosa Parks. I hope her relatives rise up and defend her good name against your faulty comparison.

Hun, you don't have to sit in the back of the bus. Just get on the first bus to Mexico and you can have any seat you want. There is room for you kid too!

See, this type of thing angers me. I firmly believe that the law overrides whatever church she belongs to. When a religious institution breaks the law, that is when the government steps in. How about drug dealers who have sold crack to kids? Are they suddenly going to have a change of heart in the middle of a pursuit from the cops and try to look to a church for sancuary?

You call it like you see it, huh?
I don't care what you call me, so long as you call me AMERICAN.

So do I. I wonder why so much is being made of this situation. There are millions of more egregious happenings all over this country than that one. There are thousands of illegals that have been ordered deported that are thumbing their noses at authority and don't think the INS can't find them. They could - if they wanted.

I don't think this is the first illegal that has ever holed up in a church

Why is it getting so much press? When the news media gets on something like this, you have to think they are not pursuing it for a good reason.

Are they actually hoping someone will storm this church? I don't know if it would have quite the same impact as it would if the church was a Catholic Church - but there would be a backlash. I can just hear all the congresscritters now.

We have brought congress, kicking and screaming, to the point they now are - I hope no one gives them an excuse to not do the right thing.

    Dixie,
I think she is right when she says that "THE LAW IS WRONG" I agree with her. If the law was right, she wouldn't be in this country illegally telling our government how to apply the law.

I think it is ridiculous that ANYONE would compare her to Rosa Parks. Elvira is sitting in a church, hiding behind the cross to protect her like a coward. Rosa Parks stood up for her rights on the front of a bus and went to jail for her cause. Rosa Parks was a citizen, Elvira is a illegal alien with a felony on her head. How disgusting...she learned nothing, probably briefly heard her story and doesn't even understand the civil rights movement.

What you want to bet that if the Feds state they are pulling the tax exempt status of this church that they will give this gal and her son the boot so hard that their feet won't hit the ground till they are in Mexico! The thing this is exactly the first thing that should happen.

I still wonder why so much media is being focused on this situation?

These things aren't done for no reason - they are done for any good reason.
