GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Lowell man is facing over 50 felony charges after allegedly threatening a minor to send explicit content on Snapchat.
Jose Isaias Martel Arriaga, 23, is facing 40 counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, nine counts of indecent liberties with a child, four counts of soliciting a child by computer, three counts of soliciting prostitution of a minor, and three counts of extortion.

He has also been placed on an ICE detainer.

According to the police report, Arriaga obtained child sexual abuse material of the 14-year-old victim by threatening that if she blocked him on Snapchat, he would send the videos to her parents.
In other instances, he threatened to tell the victim’s boyfriend what she had been sending him if she didn’t send what he asked. He also threatened to go to the victim’s school.
Arriaga is being held at the Gaton County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 16.
