Gaston County, NC: Yesterday, Jose Isaias Martel Arriaga was arrested and is facing over 50 felony charges after being accused of extorting child pornography from a 14-year-old girl. He has an immigration detainer hold.

Gaston County is immediately to the west of Charlotte. I’m not finding anything about this at WNCN, WBTV, WSOCTV, WCCB, any of the papers, or Charlotte NPR. Only one station, Queen City News bothers covering this, and, even then, not a lot of detail
Man held on ICE detainer, facing over 50 felony charges for exploiting minor on Snapchat
A Lowell man is facing over 50 felony charges after allegedly threatening a minor to send explicit content on Snapchat.
Jose Isaias Martel Arriaga, 23, is facing 40 counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, nine counts of indecent liberties with a child, four counts of soliciting a child by computer, three counts of soliciting prostitution of a minor, and three counts of extortion.
He has also been placed on an ICE detainer.
According to the police report, Arriaga obtained child sexual abuse material of the 14-year-old victim by threatening that if she blocked him on Snapchat, he would send the videos to her parents.
In other instances, he threatened to tell the victim’s boyfriend what she had been sending him if she didn’t send what he asked. He also threatened to go to the victim’s school.
Imagine if Jose was a white American male: this would be all over the Charlotte news, and easily be on the Raleigh, Asheville, and Greensboro news. 50 felonies involving a child.
