Illegal immigrants cost the country billions

Illegal immigrants cost the country billions

    November 16, 2011 10:20 pm

The Cokie and Steven Roberts Nov. 13 is titled "Base immigration policy on facts." Yet, the Robertses begin their article with an non-factual rant about the Republicans' stupid stance on immigration, as shown in the GOP presidential primary debates.

They then deliberately fail to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration, a common ploy by liberals to confuse voters. The Robertses state that "Immigrants contribute enormously to America's economic well-being." True for legal immigrants, not true for illegal immigrants.

The GOP presidential primary debates discuss illegal immigration only. A study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) estimates that illegal immigration now costs federal and local taxpayers $113 billion per year. The report, The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers, is the most comprehensive analysis of how much the estimated 13 million illegal aliens and their U.S.-born children cost federal, state and local governments. Here is the link: www.illegalimmigrationstatistics.org/.

    There are other, corroborating reports.

Next, the commentary falsely insinuates that there is Republican objection to highly educated/skilled scientist immigrants. False! These technology workers are admitted temporarily under the H1-B visa program, allowing a maximum 65,000 workers a year. Republicans in Congress try each year to increase this allowance, but every time Democrats stop them. Why? Because the Democrats know that these highly educated and skilled immigrants will become successful here, do not join labor unions, and eventually become citizens who vote Republican.

Democrats want un-educated and un-skilled illegal immigrants who will need and benefit from our public support system, who will join labor unions, and who will also become citizens who will vote Democratic.

Yes, C&SR, it is that simple, and you know it!

Jack Shafer, press critic for Slate.com, has called many of Roberts' on-air comments "blather".

I couldn't agree more. I see her on PBS sometimes and wonder what planet she is on. Some of her statements are extremely disconnected from reality.
She has also compared Glenn Beck to a terrorist so you know who she's talking for.

How would anyone know anymore? With all the fraud, stolen social security numbers (sometimes hundreds of illegals to one number) even more. Theres no accountability, especially when it comes to illegal immigration. All LOW BALL theory!
If more Americans got their heads out of fabricated compassion land. They would be as infuriated as WE are that KNOW the numbers are complete B.S!

The costs would be at least doubled if you took in to account anchor babies.

Even more. Last time I went to social security one of the hottest illegal alien scams was entire families using the anchor kids social security number. The representative said they had no idea how to address this. Plus they would take their new card (not the kid) Mom. And sell it right outside the office. Come back in to get another one like it was candy!
Now they mail the cards.... Sure that made a whole hell of a big difference.

If this number is true, then by eliminating all illegal immigration, the country could reduce expenses by 1.13 trillion dollars over ten years. If the actual number is more, so is the ten year savings: 1.45 trillion if the annual cost is 145 billion per year as someone else has posted, or even 2.26 trillion if the actual cost is double the 1.13 billion per year estimate.

Knowing all this, how in bloody blue blazes can the Democrats and Republicans be wringing their hands over how to cut the annual deficit and the national debt? All they have to do is enforce the flipping law and they would achieve half or more of their goal.

P.S. If you agree, pass this on to your elected representatives.

One more afterthought because this kind of data sticks in my craw. The so called moderates, middle of the roaders, fiscal conservatives etc that make up the GOP elite keep disregarding illegal immigration because it is a "social issue" and we need to focus first on the economy. They should have these cost figures jammed down their lying throats. Illegal immigration is not only a fiscal issue, it is a major one.
