More than 1.7 million youngsters who were brought to the U.S. before age 16 would benefit from the DREAM Act
And how many American younsters would benefit?

This assertion is absurd. The idea that low skilled, uneducated legal immigrants-who are eligible for enrollment in every social program American citizens are entitled to-are going to require less spending on social and health care programs than illegal aliens did has no basis in reality.
Not only that but most of these illegals are from a culture that believes in large families. Most of these kids are at the child bearing age or approaching it. That will put even more demands on our welfare programs and social infrastructers. It will demographically change our nation to a more dominant Hispanic one and dilute our identifying culture and languge. Then there is the right to petition and sponsor numerous family members if they become citizens. There are so many things wrong about passing this Dream Act that I think far too many Americans aren't aware of the future ramifications of it.
