bloody funny
Mate you are so damn right lol. Hey If i screw up, Ill wear it as I am doing now, But here is a reference from a mate of mine that I thought might interest you guys.
To Whom it may concern,
I am a Houston Police Officer with the Houston Police Department and have been for approximately fourteen years. I met Brian in Spearfish, South Dakota several years ago. I ride with a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club to South Dakota yearly for the annual Sturgis Rally. Since the first time I met Brian and every time since then, I have talked with him, and visited with him in South Dakota. Brian has always been very up beat and in a positive mood. I have observed a man who loves his wife, his children, and the United States. He has been the type of guy who will do what it takes to do the right thing for his family. He is a hard worker and has always seems to find a way to overcome adversity. Brian and Robin fell short when they misunderstood visa laws, and another obstacle became very clear to them. Brian loves Robin and has told me so on many occasions, its obvious to anyone who sees them together . Brian knew that by turning himself in to the authorities, he would be risking being sent out of the country and back to Australia. Brian has always respected the law and knew he had to do the right thing, even though he would be risking separation from his family and being sent back to his country. As luck would have it, he has found himself in a struggle to be back with his family.
I am writing this letter because I firmly believe that if Brian were given the chance to be back in the U.S. with his family, he would make sure that he would not allow himself to fall back into this situation and be in violation of his "Alien Status". I know he can overcome this adversity. I also fear for Robin’s health, as soon, their children go back to their father, and Robin will be alone with no support from Brian. It is a cold hard winter in South Dakota, and with no one there for her, I know she will suffer. Her mother’s illness and Brian being refused to be with her is taking a great toll. I am a family man, and nothing is more important than family to me. If for nothing else, I would like to see Brian returned to his family while this legal scenario plays out. Keeping them apart is not what our country and laws are based on. With Brian’s returning home, you are doing a greater service than you think. Family is the basis for the foothold of our society. I do not want to see yet another family torn apart through something that is out of their hands at this stage.
Being in Houston, Texas, and working as a Narcotics Officer, I have run into, and have dealt with many illegal aliens, mostly from Mexico. In this part of the nation I see countless numbers of illegal's who do not have papers, nor a job. The people I deal with are violating the law and they are not productive members of society. Some of them get deported as "Felons" and some are just released back out on the street, on probation, just as if they were a regular citizen. This is very frustrating to myself and many officers. Some are sent back to Mexico and unfortunately, I have come back in contact with them just a few weeks later. I have first hand knowledge that they are deported felons, so the cycle begins again.
My point is that there are so many illegal aliens who seem to get that free pass and I do not consider them productive members of society. I feel that Brian is a good productive member of this society. If he is given another chance to be back in the United States I know he would do the right thing for himself, his family and the US. As Brian is not at this stage an American, his wife is. If for no other reason, her trauma should be looked at, giving her a chance to be happy. By penalizing Brian, this is hurting one of our own, who has done Military service. Her wants and needs should be looked at to make sure that she is happy, healthy and has the life that she wanted. You will not be doing the wrong thing by allowing her husband to come home. Maybe in the future Brian, can become a proud citizen of the United States of America as many of our fore fathers have done in the past.
Yours Truly,
name held:
These are blokes that you cant bullshit. They see this everyday and know the impact. Thought you may like to read it. brian

I was thinking about this over the weekend. This post from robins_aussie is proof.
Immigration is not broken. They are deporting and grinding up people from all over the world daily. NOT FROM PEOPLE SOUTH OF THE BORDER. Carte Blanche is reserved for just this very special group of people only.
I am tired of the tippy toe around this subject. If there is a racist agenda, it is being performed perfectly by our government. There is no equal opportunity in today's immigration policy. I would like to see a Supreme Court case about discrimination on the part of our government because of preferential treatment from people SOUTH OF THE BORDER.
If you are from anywhere else in the world take a number, get in line and complete the paperwork from your home country. In other words leave until we say it is okay for you to be here. Immigration is not broken. They are doing this daily.
Plain and simple if you are from SOUTH OF THE BORDER you get Carte Blanche. If you are from SOUTH OF THE BORDER and broke our laws you get PLATINUM CARTE BLANCHE. All others can punt. You don't count.
Call me a racist, or the xenophobe thing, whatever, that is reality. We print signage just for their language, hospital care, preferred baby care and immediate citizenship, no laws to have to follow, no taxes to pay, no drivers license needed, no insurance needed, no housing codes to follow, no health laws to follow, rampant identity theft, forgery, fraud anything goes as long as you are from SOUTH OF THE BORDER. Everybody else is second class including legal American Citizens.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck. Somebody tell me I am not seeing this correctly. Somebody tell me it ain't so. Somebody tell me we are not being set up.

Again, welcome. In many ways I can sympathize.
I am an accountant and I get a lot of native born Americans who get in trouble with the IRS because they shelved the paperwork. These are hard lessons to learn.
I'm glad that you're man enought to stick it out and get it done. Not an easy thing to do.
Dixie is a great lady and she right about touchng a nerve. We get "trolls" on this board, periodically, who try to snow us with "it's a paperwork glitch", when all they're really looking forward to is a "debate".
Again, welcome aboard. I hope the information you find here can be helpful and supportive in your fight.
By the way - we're seriously thinking about emigrating to Australia :P . If this North American Union goes thru, despite our protests, a bunch of us may decide to "get out of Dodge".
How does one go about emigrating to Australia?

Welcome robins_aussie,
I do hope you get things worked out as well. You and yours will gain as people from doing things the right way. I have a brother-in-law in Cairnes. Originally he was from England but now is home in Australia. We have thought seriously about applying for citizenship ourselves.
I do struggle with leaving instead of fighting though.

immigration to Australia huh...
damn .. Ok well lemme tell you this much. Stay the hell out of Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. If you guys dont mind trpical heat and fishing... you have to hit either Queensland or darwin. Lots of jobs and lots of things to do. Just make sure you prime yourselves with beer first. You guys cant handle real beer lol. No Im not here for a debate. I actually found this site by accident and had a read. Lots of uninformed opinions in here .. but a helluva lot of well educated ones as well. I just know that everyone has an opinion, but until you have lived it... you can say what you want but its still an educated guess. Living through this and looking at things in hindsight, yes there are more things I could have done. Once again though, you have to live it to learn the procedure. I now have all of these people including cops backing us because they know we are getting screwed. If I was a stupid man, I most probably could have gotten away with it. I have good morals and I do believe in the law. You just have to wonder, when doing the right thing and you get screwed for it, why would you want to do things honestly. We have just found out about the K-3 visa and are now working on it flat out. Could be interesting. The thing that pisses me off is that Australia is one of the States closest allies. If you guys are in it... then what the hell... so are we. We have so many special forces deployed helping you guys out at the moment that id someone attacked us we'd be screwed lol. Not that this should grant us any favours, but in reality things like this should be looked at when push comes to shove. Integrity and old school valour are still alive in my world. integrity and value on life and family. protect your own. I live by these codes, for my American family and my Australian one. Even my kids in the states are learning these same values. Hopefully we will come out of this unscathed. canada is a bloody good option though.

why I left.
Well trouble. Once we knew that I was in violation. the first thing we did was call DHS. We were told in no uncertain circumstances that if i did not leave immediately, I would be arrested, incarcerated and then deported. I was then told to turn myself in to the local authorities. I did . They couldnt have given a shit. They called INS in Rapid City and were told right in front of me, He has walked in of his own free will. Let himgo home and call USCIS and they will guide him from there. We did this and i was given 48 hours to leave. Now while this was going on and my wifes mother was having a stroke in Oklahoma, I had no idea what to do. I couldntr get holf of an attorney as i didnt have 7000.00 to put on anyones desk, so back to DHS for advice. same thing. i was led to belive however that if i did this I would be elidgable to returm home Immediately. Wrong. Once out of the country. We lost any foot hold we had. This is how they are dealing with the honest ones. Then Ice is pretty much taking care of the rest lol. But hey... we keep tryin huh ... brian

You are so right, robins_aussie, and we are well aware of that and we thank God that our two countries are so loyal to each other. The thing that pisses me off is that Australia is one of the States closest allies. If you guys are in it... then what the hell... so are we.

update
Funny how things work isnt it. Just having found this forum and writing, to i have to admit, some good responses so soon. We just had a conference call from our attorneys. My wife in the States and myeslf here in Oz. Looks like we are going for the big push already. The K-3 visa application is being pushed through with a humanitarian petition for extreme hardship on our family but especially on my wife with her ailing mother. This is good news for us. I think there is a forest about to be chopped down to produce the paperwork involved and the Australian and US postal systems are going to reap in a shitload of cash. They are estimating a couple of weeks. As we had just discussed it also comes down to me being an Australian National. Mate .. I cant believe it. I have tried so hard to stay positive throughout this whole thing and failed on numerous occasions, but this has just put some light at the end of our tunnel. I know a lot of people here dont care what nationality i am.. they just dont want anyone in the US that isnt an American. I can promise you this .. I will be standing for my US citizenship and I will be treating the US as my home. Not a place where I ended up. If any of you are interested, I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the input to date. Brian and Robin
