I went thru the final votes from the NY Times web site:

    http://www.nytimes.com/ref/elections/20 ... qY521naoBQ

Of the 7 that lost, I wonder what the immigration position of their opponents was?

Also, I wonder if it would be smart for Tom Tancredo to whittle back some of the planks of the caucus a little, in order to attract more Democrats. For example, the plank to stop all legal immigration for 5 years.

So are we looking at a net loss of 13? I had seen the number 20 cited in an online article, but it may have been hyperbole.

Read this Immigration Platform on Health Shuler, Democrat, who defeated Charles Taylor in North Carolina.

He states he is OPPOSED TO AMNESTY FOR BREAKING THE LAW.

He states he is for BORDER SECURITY AND NATIONAL SECURITY FIRST.

We need to get to him ASAP and bring him up to date on our organization and position and see if he'll work with Tancredo and the IRC. His district is very conservative. He is a former Football Star, Pro-Football Player ... very conservative. I saw him on a show -- someone went there from CNN or FOX or 60 Minutes and did a special on him a few weeks ago.

You all may already know this stuff. Just passing it on in case you didn't.

Is this the news article you cited?

Clearly, they wanted it to look as much like a decisive victory for pro-third world immigration forces as possible.

I think it is not as bad as it might have been presented.

We need to know the positions of those who beat our candidates which appears to be 7 ... is that right ... and at least one of those is Heath Shuler who defeated Taylor but may be consistent with ALIPAC positions.

I know William and the teams are working on reports so lets wait and see just where everyone stands.

It may have been a bad night last night for Republicans but I'm not sure it was necessarily a bad night for our efforts to stop illegal immigration.

We should get members of the IRC ready to Filibuster Guest Worker if necessary.

In Tancredo's own words on Amnesty now that Dems control Congress...

"We will fight it, we will lose. It will go to the Senate, it will pass. The president will sign it. And it will happen quickly because that's one thing they know they can pass," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican and chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, who had led the opposition to a guest-worker plan. "I am absolutely horrified by this prospect, but I have to face reality."

OR ... impeach Bush and Cheney before January .... it's legally and technically possible. That would move Dennis Hastert to President and he's A on Immigration; could and would VETO Guest Worker legislation ... and I don't believe the new House or Senate could over-ride a Hastert VETO on immigration.

Then, we would have our team in the Executive Branch to secure our borders and enforce US Immigration Law.

Any Republican that watched that Press Conference today that would still want this President and Vice President running this country for 2 more years really needs to re-think that position. This President was jovial; bubbly; a real comedian; and overall Joyful at the Republican losses. He ensured the defeat of many of these candidates on purpose to push his Agenda and eliminate opposition to him in the US Congress.

You can not believe ONE WORD this Pair says about anything. Not even something as simple as what he plans to do with Rumsfeld. He lied to the American People for over a week about Rumsfeld. Bush stated at the press conference today that he interviewed John Gates for the position of Secretary of Defense on SUNDAY so he knew all last week he was going to replace Rumsfeld and knew with whom but didn't announce it and when he asked why he lied ... he said "I didn't want it to impact this election". Think about what that means. He didn't want the public to know he was making the change until after the war protest votes were cast and as many Republicans as possible were removed by the heat of his failed policy in Iraq.

The man is Insane and a Pathological Liar. How any American, Republican or Democrat, but especially Republican would want to continue to entrust the governance of our nation with such a person is beyond me...and I'm a 4th generation Republican who voted for him twice before I found out through research in April of 2005 who he really is; what he's really about; and what he's really up to.

There are movements to remove him from office and if you are not already involved ... you need to consider it.

All this talk of impeachment is just goofy. First off, who is going to impeach these guys, and on what charges? Next up, who do you think we will end up with in the White House who is any less corrupt? You think that impeaching all the way down to Pelosi is going to give us a better result? Lastly, do you have any idea how long the impeachment process takes? There is almost zero chance that an impeachment could be organized and completed before Bush's term expires, AND HE AND EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS THAT.

C'mon, folks. Let's stop living in a fantasy world and stick to reasonable solutions. Pretending that Bush is the Devil and that DC is suddenly going to be all sweetness and light if we can just dislodge the Bushies is childish in the extreme. DC is a snake pit. The number of bureaucrats and elected officials that can be trusted could fit in one of those little clown cars from the circus. The same people who are carping about Bush will instead vote for some other Trilateralist or CFR globalist who will push equally anti-American and treasonous policies, JUST AS MOST OF THE PRESIDENTS IN MY LIFETIME HAVE DONE.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE. This is not a Bush problem. It is an institutional problem that is endemic to our out of control federal system. The problem is that Americans are too damned lazy to tackle the real problem. Think about it. We have a huge problem with the federal government, so what is it that many of you are looking for as a solution? Incredibly, you want that same out of control government to fix itself for you! That's like asking Al Capone to clean up the corruption in Chicago!

I hate to be the harbinger of ill tidings, but either a meaningful percentage of Americans are going to set aside the remote control and get off their McDonald's-fattened arses and get active in the trenches down at the local and primary levels to get some honest Americans into office in sufficient numbers to take a fire hose to the slime pit that is the federal government or else we're going to continue this slide into corporate and globalist slavery. We need to change (restore) laws. We need to pare down government. We need to flush the corrupt and Socialist Bar Association from the judiciary. We need to reign in banks and corporations. We need to put an end to the foreign buyout of our country. We need to consign the UN to the depths of Hell. And we need to do all of this from OUTSIDE the current establish system, which is designed to perpetuate its own corruption. What we are talking about is a minor revolution of the non-violent and lawful sort, or else we are going to be left with the option of Orwellian slavery or violent revolution, and neither of those is an acceptable option.

None of these things are going to be easy to accomplish, but NONE OF THEM will be accomplished if the best we can muster is to daydream about impeachments or about the self-policing Congress cleaning up its own act or that of any other branch of the federal whorehouse.

Please realize that all these politicians that are anti-illegal immigration have just been let loose on society. As I type, they are securing positions as lobbyist and being invited to speak publicly. They may be out of office but they are not out of the fight. I can only hope that they rise to the occasion and that they keep fanning the flames. Even better, I hope they throw their hat in with groups like us/Alipac.

    CG,

Your right about the political revolution. Status quo is unacceptable and everyone of us need to make that clear to our representatives. The Internet has changed the way campaigns will be run in the future. It has given the average person a valuable tool for dealing with their elected officials.
