I stood on the corner with my sign

I stood on the corner across from the rally with my sign for about 3 and a half hours. I was joined by two other nice gentlemen who were saying the same things I had to say. A whopping 3 counter protesters...

Only about 400 people showed up for the rally however. They seemed to be losing steam. Every once in a while a couple of the ralliers would come over to criticize us and tell us we were ignorant and then the "peacekeepers" would come over and tell them to go back to the rally. One of the peacekeepers brought us several of bottles of water. I thought that was a very nice gesture, however I suggested that we make sure the bottles hadn't been tampered with.

I went shopping when I was done and everyplace seemed busy. I don't believe they'll be any economic impact from illegal immigrants not being consumers here in Tucson.

3 people? that is so sad, I am glad you were not harmed. I really wonder what people are thinking when they drive by and see people like us protesting. They honk and wave and give the thumbs up, but if it were me I would park my car and join you unless I HAD to be somewhere. That is what is wrong with America everybody just expects somebody else to do the dirty work.

It was a sad day. I was the ONLY one standing against a giant 700 or so people. I don't have much money, but I did mannage to pass flyers of ALIPAC. So, don't worry, mapwife, I know how you feel.

That is what has gone wrong with our nation, the 'right' is the wrong and vice-versa! Patriotic means 'idiotic' and vice-versa. Decent Americans have to DEFEND themselves against street hoodlums. In our effort to consider the 'feelings' and sensitivities of others, we gave the impression that ours don't matter If I must continue to hear the words 'politically correct' or 'special interest' I think I will ScReAm!!!

let's give them what they want, illegals must be DEPORTED!!!

I too went to the boycott here. I was among three that I saw, out of over 2000 illegals and their supporters. I thought my head was going to explode with anger.

They had all the usual signs, and their I was in my impotant rage unable to do anything. Cops all around, and they would not enforce the law of the land.

It's anarcy, and an end of the nation that we knew. I've been weeping for the death of America, and the traitorous actions of our so called government.

The crazy politicaly correct socialist/communist liberals have won! With the help of complicit Republicans.

After the millions are legalized it will be over for America. Our elected officals? There is nothing bad enough for politicians that support this invasion.

As my eyes fill with tears of helpless rage, I morn the patriotic America I once knew. What can we do?

I forgot to tell you about an important aspect of our little group.
I was the only Anglo. One gentleman was Yaqui Indian, a Spanish speaking tribe that actually has members on both sides and the other man was an American of Mexican decent, who said his folks immigrated legally 60 years ago. We were also joined for a while by a young lady who lived in the apartments across the street who was Black and said her family immigrated to the US, legally when she was 12. She too supported our cause. We all became fast friends but wished there had been more people with our point of view.

Wow. It's nice to hear you had a diverse group but certainly
you were in need of more bodies.

I drove by the local protest twice, once on my way to an an appointment and then on my way back. Both times about 7 patriots on the corner, versus 300 or so across the street.

I gave thumbs up to our group. But second trip, besides the thumbs up, I gave thumbs down driving past the long line of illegals. And instantly their entire group broke into loud boos and yells , shaking their fists at me and screaming "Racist". There was a fence so they couldn't really storm the street. But I figure they got a good look at my car and license number. Guess it wasn't a very smart thing to do.

I don't know exactly what I was expected when I gave the thumbs down. It was a spontaneous gesture. Guess I was under the impression that in America I had the "freedom to let them know" I disagree with them. But their hostile, aggressive response to a simple thumbs down was unexpected. If I had been walking by instead of driving I think they would have jumped me. I now suspect that other drivers hadn't shown ANY disapproval, they just drove quietly by, thus my gesture stood out. These are a wrathful, demanding, undisciplined people. And we should reward them?

    mapwife,
Nice work. I have always said that it is not the size of the crowd you bring out it is how well received your message is to the general public. Whether we have a large crowd, a small crowd or a single protester our message of DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS is overwhelmingly suported by passer bys.
That is what counts. On the other hand their message is not supported and that is why they have to bring their own party of rent-a-clowns. They are like a group of actors that have to go to see their own movies because they can not attract a real audience.

Another thing to remember is that they are really not well organized. They are in a captive situation. They live in communities where overcrowded housing conditions prevail and 1 or 2 overcrowded houses can fill a bus.

Remember when a passer by beeps their horn or give you a thumbs up that means they support your message and can VOTE accordingly.
