Hate to tell you, they werent at the mercy of Al Quaida, they were at the mercy of an incompetent government.

You blame the government of being incompetent, which they are most of the time, but yet when they start doing something that might help them to be more competent in stopping a terrorist attack you still ctitisize them. What is your suggestion ?

I think our government has a lot of faults, but if there was no wire tapping and the technology was available and YOU or one of YOUR loved ones had to call you on a cell phone from an airplane to say goodbye, do you think that you MIGHT be calling the government incompetent for not having used all of their technology and done all that they COULD HAVE to stop it ?

I think a lot of people who are against it would change their minds if or when a terrorist attacks occurs closer to them personally. It's easier to say "no wire-tapping" as long as you view a terrorist attack on a TV screen. It might become harder to say "no wire-tapping" if you ever have a real life one on one encounter with terrorists and you are burned to death, or are forced to jump from a sky scraper. You are definitely going to wish you had let them wire tap. I can almost guarantee it.

I think that we have to be "REALISTIC" at this point in time instead of being so idealisitc.

We can be idealists all day, but what matters at the end of the day is whether or not our enemies have succeeeded in killing any of us.

A future terrorist attack could be so big that it ends up over-riding illegal immigration and people are so overwhelmed trying to deal with that, that they lose their will and maybe their ability to fight back.

A severe terrorist attack could make people so disabled from their normal lives that they become extremely dependent on our government for all information and maybe even for food and shelter. The more dependent we become on our government the more power they could also gain.

I just think that we need to work with our government and to believe in ourselves that we can be vigilant and that we will monitor and contiunally evaluate our need for this. I believe that we can do it.

Your right leagaluscitizen, I still do critisize them, because to protect me or my family does not require them to chisel away at my God given rights, as the Government would have you to believe. I suggest that Bush and company to get serious on the "War on Terror", you cant fight a war with one hand tied behind your back. I suggest Bush close the borders to stop allowing people that have no bussiness in our country to enter before Bush even suggest that he should be allowed to take away my God given rights

Jbird, I cannot deny that it is strange to say the least, that a president would "ignore" the fact that people can walk right in to our country unannounced and unchecked and he does not seem to find that to be an extreme contradiction to his message that everything we are doing is about keeping America safe.

That is WHERE my problem lies with him. That is why I am here with all of you trying to force the issue, trying to get him to understand that until he corrects this EXTREME contradiction in what he says vs. what he does that we are not going to go away.

I think it’s a joke to say wiretapping is the only way we can get a foot up on terrorism when you allow every man, women and child who wants to cross our southern border to do so unchecked number one. Two myself I do not believe in any way shape or form that big brother is ONLY looking at international calls and last but not least I am tired of giving up rights in the name of anything. Once you let the government take a liberty you never get it back. Every law past is a liberty lost. My son cannot even ride his gas scooter anymore and yet this is a free country? My son cannot have his basket ball hoop on the side walk yet this is a free country. Nope its not ok to tap phones and it is not ok to break some ones door down then announce I am the police. My two cents. So count mine as a no vote.

Why would we trust a government that shows no interest in doing the #1 thing that would keep us safe? They refuse to truly secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws yet they tell us that they need the NSA to screen the calls of every legal American with computer programs?

If the American public will give them this big brother power to play God on every cell and telephone line in America then the American public is willing to give up absolute power from the people to the government or those corporations that run our government.

If that is the, we can forget about immigration enforcement. The same people that are pushing for biometric ID for all Americans and invasive surveillance of law abiding American citizens are the same groups pushing for amnesty and open borders.

The ACLU is no help to us and they are missing out on massive attention and support their organization would receive if they were not political combatants on behalf of law breakers.

Well maybe I am wrong to say that I support wire tapping at least in light of the fact that if George Bush had been serious about our security that after 9/11 he could and would have never allowed this invasion to go on and to grow into what it has become. It just doesn't make any sense.

I'd like to know HOW we have managed to stop anymore attacks so far, IF the wire tapping has not worked ? I cannot understand. The wire tapping has stopped some attacks, right ? It worked just two weeks ago on what would have been horrible, killing many more than on 9/11.

I don't know. I am so fed up with all the games this administration is playing. Maybe their little tricks have worked on me because they have me so confused. Everyday I learn more and more which leads me to believe that GWB is a really horrible person. If he is NOT than why doesn't he talk straight to the American people about things that concern us ? Why doesn't he answer our questions about everything.....because he must be a horrible man really doing all these things. What else could it be ??

But then somedays I say to myself that he must be doing something right because we haven't had an attack. WHAT can we chalk that up to ?

Just like all of us here, I want our country to be safe. SOMETHING they've been doing has been working. What is it ?

Thank you for putting it in kinder, gentler terms that I couldn't. It amazes me that some folks here can trust a totally incompetent, corrupt government (who refuses to secure our borders and encourages mass migration and goes against the wishes of American citizens on almost every level) on any issue let alone NSA wiretapping. It just goes to show you how gullible some people are.

Seriously people, how do we really know that the government is using the NSA wiretapping for what they say they are? We can't trust them on any other issue, but we are going to trust them on this and just assume that they are using it for just merely spying on terrorists? How can you? Are we that afraid of these vermin (terrorists) that we are just going to let the government placate on our fears and trample on our rights in the name of national security?

I'm not saying that there should be no wiretapping, but it needs to be done legally, just like immigration. No warrant, no wiretapping. It's that simple. It has nothing to do with I have nothing to hide or whatever. It has everything to do with my God given rights. If we allow this NSA warrantless wiretapping to go on, what's next? Are they going to bug my entire house, my clothes, my car, my family, my friends? Where do we draw the line? What's to stop some bureaucrats in government who may hate what we are doing here from using this NSA wiretapping from bugging us and making our lives a living hell for political purposes? What's to stop the same people from framing you for a crime you didn't committ by using this NSA wiretapping thing?

I'm just afraid that we are giving big government too much power and that will lead to tyranny if you people let it. Our job as people is to force the government to fix their screwups, not reward them with more power when they screw up. If you think that NSA wiretapping is more important and more effective then securing our borders and enforcing our laws then you really are not as strong in this movement as I thought.

I'd like to know what some of you supporters of NSA wiretapping would think if someone more dangerous then Bush like Hillary or McCain or Kennedy became president and had the authority to use this tool. Would you be for it then?

Here's another senario. What about us here on Alipac doing our thing and some bureaucrats consider this site a hate site for whatever reason? Are they going to bust down my door and arrest me for a hate crime because I surfed a site that they didn't like?

I don't know about you, but I fear the incompetence and power craze of this government more than I do the terrorists because if not for this government's incompetence 9-11 never happens period. Your a fool if you think otherwise.

Sorry if my rant was too over the top, but I had to say what needed to be said and this is the only way I can think of saying it without going off the deep end.

How do we even know they have worked? How do we even know they are using this tool to merely fight terrorism? That's what they claim, but they have proven they can't be trusted with anything. Nobody is watching these people. I want real proof from an independent, unbiased, reliable source, not some Jorge Bush mouthpiece who makes some wild claims out of their anus to fool people into accepting their one world government agenda. Seriously, Jorge Bush has lied so much that even if the idiot came to me and told me the sky was blue and I could see it with my own eyes, I'd still think he was lying, that's how bad he is. I'd still wonder what's the catch. That's why I want a warrant for these things. It's time these snake-oil salesman start following the laws they are suppose to enforce and not make up new ones because they don't like the old ones. That's congresses job and last I checked, the executive branch doesn't legislate.
