Thread: Just a couple of weird random thoughts

Anyone who has read my posts can tell that I'm very angry about the subject of illegal immigration. At the same time, theres a guy I've known on the street scene here for the last 15 years, a friend of mine, he's an illegal immigrant. He's a cool guy, just another hapless guy bumbling through his life, just like me. We call him "the Mexican Paul McCartney," because he can play every Beatles song ever recorded, from "Love Me Do" to "Let it Be." Does a killer version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"' where he does a note-for-note version of the guitar solo played on a kazoo. A very cool guy. I would never think to talk to him about my feelings about illegal immigration. Its like theres the political level, and then theres the personal level. And they don't always mesh. I hang out a lot on the Berkeley campus. Just 15 years ago it was less than 10% Asian. Now its over 55% Asian. Thats how quickly everything's changed. And not for the better, from my perspective. There used to be a flophouse down the street where all the poor street people rented out cheap rooms. Now its owned by an Asian family and all the street people got kicked out and most of the rooms are now rented out to Asian college students. Hey, its wonderful that you're here making "a better life" for yourself. Except for one thing: You're displacing the people that were already here. I dunno. I'm just rambling....

AceBackwards--Thanks for sharing those thoughts and experiences. The issue of illegal immigration is not about any one group of illegal aliens. There are violent gangs from every nationality that's in the United States illegally...not just Hispanic or Mexican....Asian, Russian.

The Russian Mafia is here illegally.

Al Qaeda is here illegally.

MS-13 is here illegally.

Chinese Gangs are here illegally.

Illegal Workers are here illegally.

Illegal Business Operators are here illegally.

Illegal drug manufacturers, supplies, dealers, runners, traffickers are here ilegally.

Illegal arms dealers are here illegally.

It is the most massive invasion of criminality at all levels in the history of the United States.

And, presently, they are protected by the United States government creating a class of:

UNTOUCHABLES.

If we succeed, as I believe we will, in closing the borders, stopping the flow, stopping the traffic, commencing prosecutions, rounding up illegals and returning them to their country of origin safely....there will be these personal and emotional experiences for many Americans.

You can't get weepy on this....because you know or have made an acquaintance. It's not about him personally. It's about the criminality of it. It can not continue and it must be stopped, not for us, but for our Nation.

Many of us won't be alive when the benefits of what we are working for come into play.

Nothing about this fight is personal, it's an action to protect the sovereignty of the United States....for future generations of Americans who hopefully will do as well or better than we did to ensure that this Nation survives long into the Future.

That is what is at risk and that is what some of us are trying to do.

People have different reasons for joining this fight against illegal immigration, mine is to save our Nation so it is alive and well for the next generation of Americans.

Don't get me wrong. I'm totally against illegal immigration, and I want to put a complete stop to it for every reason you could possibly mention. And we ARE going to put a stop to it. And we are going to crush any politician that gets in our way. The old game is OVER. And you just watch how quickly the politicians start jumping on our bandwagon -- like rats out of a sinking ship -- once they realize which way the wind is blowing.

We have the immigration legal code to prevent bad people from coming to the United States. Mr. Bush said he did not want to interfer with a willing worker finding a willing employer. The result was.. we have no idea under the sun who came in, and may never know unless we put that national identification in place.

Everyone who came in was not a criminal. But a lot of criminals came in for no other reason than they were running from the police in Mexico, or Guatamala. A lot of bad people came in because doing crime in the United States meant you wound up in a much, much better jail.

I want immigration shut down for a while. We need to take care of the United States, and very badly. Infastructure need 1.5 trillion dollars worth of work and the immigrants as a whole..as a whole, do not move in and do things well. They need education, they need support, they need money. That means we spend some 61 billion dollars supporting immigrants and illegal aliens.

We will lose people who add to the society. We will lose people who are criminal to the core. But this society is very diverse and we make our own on a daily basis. And if they start in this country, we at least know they did not come from Mexico because the Federalies were chasing him.

But cheap wages are the consequences of such illegal labor. And that cheap labor can be blackmailed to the core. ...."...sell my dope or I will tell the Immigration people where you are." That cheap labor become far, far more expensive as they work under the table without penalty, and collect welfare, without penalty. And putting the information together and catching them is very, very difficult.

I agree.. we lose when we don't have a flowing exchange of people. But we gain a great deal more. Dope dealers head for the Barrio, and the rate of incarcaration has gone through the roof. Lots, and lots of babies are being born to Mexican Americans who are also addicted to a narcotic of some sort.

Lets do it by the rules.

One very nice thing happens with a National Identification Card. People can come and go as they please. But when we have that National Identification Card, they cannot stay and work unless they are checked out for a criminal record.

I can identify with how ya feel, ace. I too have a hispanic friend whom I strongly suspect is an illegal. This is simply not an issue I discuss with him. I do not like the fact that he is in that situation... but it changes nothing. I will not sell my son's future for anyone, no matter how nice they are.

I must disagree with you, shaw.. EVERY illegal immigrant is, by definition, a criminal. Being a hardworking, friendly criminal makes them no less a criminal.

Well several Border patrol officers I heard interviewed a while back said the statement by Bush about "willing workers with willing employers" scared the hell out them! Who is paying George Bush to be a low rent employment agency for the Third World? And meanwhile what in the hell is this guy doing for us legal Americans? Yeah I recall how he so arrogantly informed his nation that we had to be retrained for all the jobs he has out-sourced, off-shored or made it so illegal aliens have taken them--but of course he didn't mention what these new jobs were/are that we are supposed to be training for! Who is this man really working for?
