A comforting thought is that maybe Kennedy won't let go of his beliefs in this "fragile" bill and allow any changes. Because this could sink it for him.
If Kennedy holds fast, they won't get the Senate support needed for Reid to bring it back up.

Remember, too, this a political stunt on Reid's part. He doesn't want that bill back on the floor, because he's trying to make Bush look bad, therefore, the Republicans look bad for not passing this bill and the Dems win in the election next year.

It's all a game to them.

They are also talking about having stiff penalities for document fraud, and a variety of other measures which they didn't mention yet.
Isn't document fraud already a felony?

Yes, document fraud is a felony, but this bill would have forgiven the illegals for that crime, because if prosecuted, you would probably see about 80% of them deported, and Kennedy and the Hispanic crowd didn't want that. Thisis why I think Kennedy won't budge.

When I called Crapo and Craig's offices this morning, they remained undecided on their positions at the moment. Said they were weighing the phone calls.

Actually, whoever stops this bill is going to look GREAT to the majority of the American people.

Check out CSPAN. The House right now is debating a security bill which includes border security, fence building, hiring more border agents. All this is wrapped up in a new Homeland Security bill. Timing?

On the other hand, if amnesty passes, it will be off the table in '08. The Dems will be able to campaign without amnesty rearing its ugly head and the Republicans will be pilloried, tarred and feathered for allowing it to pass. In fact the Republican party will no longer exist...at least for many decades to come. We will NEVER let the Reps forget!!!

But if the bill is defeated...the Republicans have a good chance of winning if they run on NO AMNESTY! It's a question of allowing 100 Senators to choose our fate or to allow We the People decide our fate.

But Reid keeps insisting this is the President's bill, so he wants to see the President fail in getting legislation passed.

Just goes to show you how utterly stupid and ignorant Harry Reid is! It's the Bush/Kennedy Bill! Bush is one of them! Immigration is not a partisan issue but Reid doesn't get it! He should know that the Dems will lose all hopes of the WH in '08 if amnesty is still on the table. I think Reid wants it more than Bush...if that's possible. What an old coot!
