Homeland Security Regulations Anger Several Valley Farmers

Homeland Security Regulations Anger Several Valley Farmers
    by Brian Morrow
VIDEO. Some valley farmers do not think highly of the Department of Homeland Security's latest regulations.

Members from the Nisei Farmers League and Fresno County Farm Bureau gathered to discuss Friday's announcement of the department's new regulations on illegal immigration and hiring practices.

The new rule will require employers to fire employees who are unable to clear up problems with their Social Security numbers 90 days after they are notified.

Employers could face sanctions and a more than $2,000 fine. The new rule goes into effect in 30 days.

i would rather pay $10/ head lettuce then risk losing everything because i can't afford the taxes that are required to feed, cloth, house, educate, and incarcerate these illegals. let the crops rot if need be!!!! some how that wont continue, some one will come up with an idea to pay a living wage to citizens and we will once again have produce.

Everything seems to be happening so fast in this country, the more I read the more depressing it gets, I'm telling you there is not 12 million illegals in this country, I will bet there is at least 50 million, this has affected every town across America, they have given our country away. Where are all the Americans? How can they be so passive? Why are they not speaking up? These can not be Americans whose families have been here for century's, that fought for this country!

I understand your frustration and share it - I have been feeling this way for at least 20 years - mildly frustrated for 30 years.

So, in all seriousness and I may debate you, but what do you think the American people should do?

I learned a few days ago that illegal immigrants have been coming to Long Island since the late 1930's! Only until the late 1990's is when it started to get bad!

I will tell you what I suggest, if Americans do not take to the streets all over this country and soon, and demand something be done and not 3 or 4 people a day being arrested then we deserve to lose this country.

I have watched road to the white house, Dems and Repulicans , why are people not saying anything to these people on their campaign trail, why are they not demanding our laws be enforced. The Demacrates have not taken hardly any flack for any of this and they are still wanting amnesty for these people. Everyday I hear people say how wonderful Hillary is, are they completely nuts!!

I'll tell you this, it is going to take something really big to get their attention!! And I don't think we can hold out until 2008!

Well, being from Texas, we have always had illegals coming from Mexico. Some came and stayed - most came and worked and went home after a while.

Those people presented no problem. The problems began when they began to come and stay.
    .
The problem is giving them welfare - more than Americans get, providing special education, allowing them to disregard the law, etc.

But LI is lucky, Texas has had this since the 80's. That amnesty did nothing but open the flood gates.

So, I still wonder why exactly should we do?

I have no sympathy for these farmers. They have lots of other options, three of them are:

    1. Use the H2A program

    2. Mechanize

    3. Move to Mexico

I don't care which they chose, just stop complaining about your loss of neo-slave labor, subsidized by us!!

They are going to use the H2A. All these illegals are suddenly going to become legal with the H2A. We, as in America and Americans, are going to be worse off than we were before. Right now, at least, we do have the hope and the remote possibility of deportation. Once they rubberstamp the visas for all these illegals - they are here for the duration.
