I would like to send the following to web link to the media and the politicians. It show pictures of people that were killed by illegals. This makes it more personal due to the photos. It made me angry and would cause the same in others. The web page only shows some of the victims and needs to mention that more people are killed in the United States by illegals that get in Iraq.

Maybe people should have a large display of those pictures especially the children.

Its very important to me and all of the other folks here, but even though the vast majority may want their laws enforced, they are not acting on that. The lack of will to stop illegal immigration from the govt and because the lack of will from the American citizens to stop it is why we are where we are. It's also because of the lack of money. We're not funded like LaRaza and the ACLU. We would need a sponser, maybe several of them. We would need organizers and the like to pull off a major protest in DC. That kind of will and funding just isn't there. Funny though, the will is there against the war in Iraq and was there for the Vietnam war.

I would attend such a protest..but I'll be damned if I'm going to show up and only a hundred or two show up. We need Hundreds of Thousands to show up. If that were possible, I think it would have already happened, but I could be wrong. Good luck, I'll be watching the boards for any organizing that may happen.
Truth is...deep in my heart...I know you are right. American people just don't realize that when we lose this time...its for good. I find myself getting angry at my own family members who really haven't done ANYTHING...to help this cause. American people also can't be inconvenienced...that's what is so sad...
I hate to think that one day...they might be saying I wish I would have.....
Please help save America for our children and grandchildren... they are counting on us. THEY DESERVE the goodness of AMERICA not to be given to those who are stealing our children's future! ... and a congress who works for THEM!

What does it take to recall someone? What if we started to make a push to do so? I know it's probably impossible, but CRUD!!! I was in a meeting a few weeks ago and the people were talking about how dissatisfied they were with the leadership of the Republican party. So, they said they might still get their vote, but they can forget about their money! WOW! No money!!! Holy crap! What are elitist political jokes like Rick Perry, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, and John McCain gonna do without your money?! Your only gonna give them your VOTE?! You selfish, good-for-nothin'... Wait! That's how they get into office to make these bad decisions in the first place. Maybe instead of supporting the tired, out-of-touch old guard, cast your vote and voice and your money at someone that might actually support your views!

As far as rallies and organized protests, it's all about getting the word out, early and often...and often. I think an organized sick day or a picnic without an illegal, or whatever they are called, would be great! We just have to be annoying to the point that they (the press) give us the time of day. The national networks need to catch wind of it, as do the local networks and radio groups. It can be done. Maybe instead of writing to our deaf and blind Reps and Senators, we should be contacting the media. It needs to be soon. The president, RINOs and the Pelosicrats are getting ready for amnesty.

I think something around Washington's bday would be fine. Saturday, February 24th. Celebrating American Citizenship Day. Picnics, BBQs, American flags. Or, February 22nd, Washington's bday. We just take off work. I know it will be cold for a picnic, so organize a big indoor lunch. Just get the word out. To steal a line..."If you build it, people will come!" I'll try to organize something here in the great metropolis of Granbury. You do something in yours. Just let me know when you want to do it.

    massive rally

I think a massive rally should be planned. However, I feel that many people will not attend the rally because they will be seen as racist. When it comes to protesting for what is right for America people have a tendency to sit back. This is the first obstacle. The illegals have everything to loose and much to win. This is what motivates them to do what they do. We should learn from that. I have lost too much already and I stand to loose more.

I suppose the common belief is that something "should" be done but that even IF something was done, no one would go.

I saw the information about the protest planned for summer but congress gets started a lot earlier than summer so that could very well be too late.

Frankly, I don't care if standing up for this country and for the future of my children is seen as racist therefore that has no bearing on what I participate in and it would not stop me from delivering my message. But I guess that some people aren't strong enough to do the same. Maybe they don't have the confidence in their ability to make a difference or the will power to block out all of the racial accusations.

These people spout "racist" for that exact reason - it makes some people who stand up for what's right sit back down again and scurry off in fear of being seen as something that they aren't. It's a good call on their part because obviously it's working.

Again, as I said awhile back, it is very frustrating to write to all of these people and get vague empty promises back in return. I know my letters aren't being read because if I dare ask a question, I get no answer... simply the same letter as everyone else. That wont stop me from writing but I do wish there was something bigger happening.

I have temporarily turned my attention to writing journalist. I could be wrong but it seems to me that the more the media covers the story, the more educated Americans will be on this issue. The more educated they are on this issue, the more upset they will become. The more upset Americans that there are, the more pressure our government will face.

I'm surprised that there aren't any large protests planned (aside from the one in the summer). And even though this thread drops down to the bottom and will eventually be forgotten, I will continue to check in. If anyone hears of anything, please let me know!

Texas Governor Perry cannot be recalled. However, there have been recall elections at the local level in Texas.

Is there any way to get some popular big names that are anti-illegal in the media or in politics to show up and help rally people to a protest?

I 2nd the motion on the floor.

There is some way to get Perry out before his term expires. Didn't Texas give Gov. Paw Furgeson the boot?

    Yep! Thought so!

James Ferguson (1915-1917) is the only governor to be impeached and convicted.
As in the U.S. Constitution, the only legal method of removing a governor from office is through the process of impeachment and conviction. Impeachment is the process of accusing an official of misconduct in office and is similar to the process of indictment by a grand jury. Impeachment is only a formal accusation – it is not a determination of guilt or innocence. This judgment requires a trial.

Efforts to remove a governor begin in the Texas House of Representatives, which must cast a majority vote in favor of impeachment. Such a vote amounts to bringing formal charges against a governor. The Texas Constitution, however, does not provide any specific grounds for impeachment, leaving such judgments in the hands of the Legislature. Again, this is similar to the national constitution; impeachment is based on the commission of "high crimes and misdemeanors," but after more than two hundred years there is still no consensus what this phrase means in practice.

James E. Ferguson: impeached in 1917

Impeachment is followed by a trial in the Texas Senate. The House is charged with prosecuting the case, with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas (an elected position) presiding over the proceedings (i.e., acting as the judge in the case). Conviction requires a two-thirds vote of the senators present. If convicted, a governor is removed from office and disqualified from holding any other state office. James Ferguson (1915-1917) is the only governor to be impeached and convicted. Any member of the executive or judicial branch can be impeached and tried.

Like the impeachment and removal procedure at the federal level, the state constitution provides for a process that is an amalgam of judicial and political elements. Elected officials initiate and carry out the process, but the procedures have a judicial flavor to them that invites elected officials to sit in objective judgment akin to the role played by a jury in a court proceeding. Given the difficulty political actors may have judging objectively, the Constitution ensures that the process will be used rarely.

Sucession: Lt. Gov. will take his place.
