Laura Bush okay with Spanish Anthem

First Condi Rice and now Laura Bush, the White House appears to be backtracking on Bush's English only statement. What a bunch of traitors. She sounds about as smart as her husband at the end of this article.

WASHINGTON -- A Spanish-language version of "The Star-Spangled Banner," called "Nuestro Himno," which means "Our Anthem," debuted last week.

It stirred controversy because it rewrites some of the English version. And President Bush fed the debate, saying, "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English."

But asked her opinion Wednesday in a CNN interview, First Lady Laura Bush said, "I don't think there's anything wrong with singing it in Spanish."

"What people want is it to be sung in a way that respects the United States and our culture," she said.

But when it was pointed out that this position differed from her husband's, the first lady had a different answer.

"Well, I think it should be sung in English, of course," she said.

She compared it to hymnals including translations into other languages.

"I love it when I look at the bottom of `Amazing Grace' and there are the words in the Methodist hymnal in Swahili," she said.

Laura Bush is part Latino, I think. During the campaign, Bush paraded his Latino kin folks for everybody to see. I guess he thought that would get him in good with the Mexicans. Laura Bush's nephew was one of the people on parade and he is obviously Latino.

Yeah--every day I wake up and hope for more language chaos in America. You see, the future of America hinges on our inability to communicate with each other--it will help the economy.

I don't know if she is part Mexican - but she just doesn't seem to have a grasp on reality. She always seems kinda out of it.

Once when she was in Mexico, someone asked her what she thought should be done about the border issue and she said, "Mexico is a beautiful country. George and I honeymooned here.'

I think she just repeats what she is told. It's kinda like, "Ok, mention immigration - repeat #37."

She also said when she finished college, she worked in a poor school district. 'That's where I learned that all people are the same."

    laura bush

Laura bush compared the National Anthem with "Amazing Grace" which is stupid. ”Amazing Grace” is not a nation Anthem. There is a difference. Any country's nation Anthem should be sung in it’s native language.
I would not even think of singing "la Cucurache" or "Celito Lindo" in any other language other than Spanish.

Yes I agree xianleather that was a very stupid remark, but remember where it comes from, people who are not directly affected do not have a clue.

Really didn't answer the question, did she? I used to like Laura Bush. Come to think of it, I used to like her husband. Now????
