Letter Just Sent to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid

E-mailed to Pelosi and Reid on Jan. 30:

    January 30, 2007

Representative Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House
Senator Harry Reid, Majority Leader, U.S. Senate

Dear Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid:

In 1993, Senator Reid wisely introduced the Immigration
Stabilization Act in the United States Senate as a means for dealing with
    illegal immigration in America.

Senator Reid's bill was highlighted in a press release issued by his office on August 5, 1993. In that press release, Senator Reid stated:

"Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs. The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement. Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care, and other benefits often without paying any taxes.”

“Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world.”

Since the senator made those astute observations in 1993, the problem of illegal immigration has multiplied several times over. Whereas the population of illegal aliens was a few million in 1993, that number has swollen to 20-30 million in 2007.

Most alarming is that this invasion continues unabated despite the attacks of September 11, 2001. Why does a nation at war refuse to secure it's own borders?

In addition, as Senator Reid correctly pointed out nearly 14 years ago, "safeguards like welfare and free medical care were designed to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world."

Again, the problem that the senator accurately identified in 1993 has grown by as much as 700%.

America's health care system has been thrown into chaos by freeloaders
who do not pay for services received. Hospitals and medical clinics all across the nation have been forced to close because of the impact of serving non-paying freeloaders.

Tragically, closure of such facilities reduces the health care options and access available to American citizens and others here legally.

Although freeloading illegal aliens dump their medical bills onto the backs of American taxpayers, anywhere from $30-40 billion is sent back to Mexico, every year.

Allow me to repeat: Freeloading illegal aliens dump the cost of medical care onto the backs of American taxpayers, but send $30-40 billion back to Mexico every year.

As you deal with a health care system in crisis and federal budget deficits and debts clearly out of control, please consider this option:

America should seize funds being sent to Mexico and use said funds to reimburse the United States treasury for services stolen by freeloaders.

Such a policy would take an unfair burden off of the American middle class, and could work to discourage even more illegal aliens from invading our great nation.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

    Sincerely,

    John W. Lillpop

If we had the legal right to seize funds being sent to Mexico by illegal workers, I think a lot of them would go home instead of staying here and working, then again, it might just give them a reson to forget those at home and make new families here to take the place of those in Mexico as probably a lot of them have already done.
Build the dam fence post haste!

Did you see on Lou that some border state officials are talking about taxing remittances to Mexico?

Kinda looks like Harry Reid is having the "big one" in response to the sign "Honest Leadership, Open Government." I imagine the thought of this is pretty frightening.
