...."Both the House and Senate held hearings on the border patrol agents. As a result, Congress took action to prevent a similar situation occurring in the future. Included in the version of the Secure Fence Act HR 6061 passed in the 109th Congress is a provision that would allow border patrol officials to evaluate the actions and training of agents in the field.

Specifically, it grants great authority to border patrol agents to stop vehicles that enter the USA illegally, and to pursue those who refuse to stop when ordered to do so. I hope this change in policy will untie the hands of border patrol agents in the future.


Both agents have been sentenced, and it is up to President Bush to pardon them or commute their sentences."
