Well Dixie it there may be some truth to that. I am of Mexican ancestry, and I can tell you I find that offensive. The article does not say whether the "Hispanics" are Americans. I can bet you they were.

Your right Berfie and point well taken. My Hispanic realtives wouldn't wear that crap either.

But hey, they are Americans.

I wonder if a "caucasian marketing expert" were to say on NATIONAL TELEVISION that "being brown is the LAST thing a white person wants"

Well, that would end the tanning bed, fake bake, and tan in a bottle industries. When I was younger, half the year I was brown enough that you couldn't tell me from an American Indian or Hispanic. I'm sure people thought my mother was just the babysitter.

It's called a tan.

this is great news. Now to go after the smaller stores that sell those and shirts that say "gringo" on them... i find that term racist.

I still wont shop there. Its like american furniture warhouse with there "new face .. "adds and showing the you mexican. You can bet they dont mean mexican americans.

What if the phrase "Brown Is The New White" refers to people that are not only immigrants in our country (be it legal or sadly illegal) but to most people in the Western Hemisphere working their a**es off to have a dignified lifestyle like the one traditionally associated with white people portrayed in the media?

Maybe the shirt is about those who do have a green card or U.S. citizenship and pay their taxes on time in order to secure a legal job and in one way or another contribute to the greatness of our country. It doesn't have to mean that their skin color is changing, we know that just won't happen.

To think the phrase is just about skin color or "being replaced" by other ethnic groups is just paranoid. Maybe is just about them being integrated to our customs and lifestyle not only in America but also in other parts of the world.

And I insist: to have this t-shirt being sold at major department stores won't attract any more illegal immigrants as banning it won't stop them for coming.

Brown is not only the color for Hispanics!!! Look at the Middle East and South West Asia! Does this shirt refer to them too??? Or is it aimed at only the Latino customers??? Well gee thats not racist at all now is it???


Time for another Boycott!!!

I thought it meant that they were the "new white", meaning they were taking over America - beating out the caucasian people. So, I thought they'd love it!

Heh maybe it was another propaganda move by big business to tell us this is what WE WANT!!! So deal with it!!!

I just got a response by email to my complaint letter I wrote to them:

Thank you for your message about the T-shirts sold at Macy's. Your feedback
