"massive border security" means MUCH more than technology, drones, sensors

Memo to Trump: the Democrats are saying "massive border security" means "technology, drones, sensors and roads." We will not be fooled by this. True border security means full wall or double-layered fence funding, interior enforcement, E-Verify, and implementation of the RAISE Act.

Do not reward...deport within 24 hours.

No rights, no judge, no lawyer, no detention, no day care!

Deport them back over the FIRST border they arrived from...MEXICO...who is facilitating the invasion of our country.
ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM

DO NOT REWARD THEM - DEPORT THEM ALL

Yep, we already attempted the "virtual fence" route. It turned into a huge expensive boondoggle that accomplished nothing. We need the physical border wall Trump promised us during his campaign.

Without the technical aspects and interior enforcement, a wall will do little, if anything but put us farther in debt.

Sometimes the use of technical defenses is only as good as the desire to have them succeed. We have to admit to ourselves, no one has wanted them to succeed - since the illegal debacle began - no one.

We know, we have to know, that at last 90% of our lawmakers and other policy makers, of which there are many unelected policymakers, do not-do not want a change in the illegal situation except for it to get bigger.

Surely, we have to admit that. If they wanted something done, it would have been done.

There are some that pretend they do. What exactly have they done? Have they spoken out loud, long and clear to the American people - giving them the facts about illegal immigration?

Have they talked with their local states and encouraged them to do what they can (that is really a lot) to stop this?

Have they denounced the employers who hire them?

    No - they haven't.

Now they want you to think they champion a program that will do some good?

If e-verify worked, these people who have fought so long and hard to keep illegals here, would not be championing it. I'm not sure what exactly it does, but I'm almost positive, if it worked, the politicians would not be for it.

These people, who call themselves Americans, and who call themselves republicans, have been playing us like a fiddle for far too long.

Don't settle for 'better than nothing', because something that gives an employer an excuse to hide behind for hiring illegals is worse than nothing. I just don't believe these people would put something in place that would actually work. Why would they change their spots now?

Interior inforcement is only a successful as our ability to stop illegals from crossing the border illegally. What good does it do to deport an illegal if another one or two cross the border to replace the one deported? Right now it seems they're are pretty much coming across the border at will. If they don't succeed once, they'll try and try again until they do. The "wall" and boots on the ground is critical to stopping the inflow of illegals. Trump needs to build the large intimidating wall he promised during his campaign. Without securing the border, the problem will never be fixed.

This is one of those big picture deals where a combination of things are necessary for success. Border security is an imperative spoke in the wheel.

Boots on the ground would solve a lot of the problem and we already have those, just put them in place.

The wall we don't have, probably won't have.

So the question is, why are we waiting to put troops on the border? Why are we waiting to enforce the laws we have.

Right now they are playing games with us - no difference than what George Bush and Obama did. They round up 10/20/maybe even 60 and inform the press. We have millions! - more than the 11 million they have been using for 20 years.

Unless and until we stop the incentives they will continue to come. Border security is important - but interior enforcement is what will stop them wanting to come and make them want to leave.

Yes, we need to keep them from coming in, but as long as they know they can work, receive freebies, etc., they will come.

Just imagine - ICE raids meat processing plants - picks up thousands of illegals, fast tracks them for deportation AND actually deports them. Then they prosecute the employers going back to day one of the hiring of each and every one of them.

That would have more of an effect than any wall.

Nobody is suggesting a wall is the answer to all our ails on illegal immigration, however, a wall is part of the big picture.

As long as the world knows if they come here, they can work, pay no taxes, not have to obey the many laws we have to obey, and they will be fed, medicated, etc., they will come. They can get away with some really serious crimes, they can flee prosecution in their own countries and be safe here, they will come.

Also a wall will not get them to return home - interior enforcement would.

Mexico has always been a poorer country than the US - not sure that is true now, but our laws kept the border pretty secure.

When we began to signal we would not enforce those laws is when they began coming in droves.

The fact they are not going after the employers, not even trying, let's the illegals know the government is not serious. Surely we should at least know as much about our country as the illegals do.

We have a National Guard - put it on the border - or better yet, bring home the troops from Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere and put them on the border.

The wall, just my opinion, is much like global warming. They are talking about something huge and almost mythical, while there are lots of things that could be done to go a long way to fix the problem, but our government - local to Washington, are not doing it

As long as we continue to demand the wall, and nothing else, we will get NOTHING.

We have millions of illegals in this country - most all of them are working. They are working illegally. That means we have a lot of employers who are breaking the law and benefiting from it.

How much emphasis is being put on the employers? None - except to offer us the solution - that is just a cover for the employers - of e-verify.

Who are you suggesting is demanding nothing but a wall? Like I've said over and over again, a wall is only part of the solution and as best I can tell everyone pretty much knows that. To play the wall down as unecessary is folly and will keep the revolving border door open. Nobody is arguing against the other things you commented on. Although, nobody except you is dismissing the border wall as a necessary tool to enhance security at the border. Once again, the promised border wall is an important part of the puzzle as are the other things you mentioned.

I'm not trying to be argumentative or even suggest I have all or even any of the answers.

I'm trying to get people to think beyond what the politicians are telling us and what the media is bombarding us with. Mostly, I'm pointing out there seems to be a lot of things that could be done. These are things that are proven to work and we are focusing on a wall. Please don't say we aren't focused on the wall right now.

We think we aren't influenced by the media, but think about it. The more they make fun of the wall, denigrate it, the more we seemed determined to make it happen.

The more they make fun of republicans, the more we defend, identify with, and vote for them. It keeps is tightly in the 'republican fan section', doesn't it?

I'm not dismissing the wall - I'm certainly questioning the need or it's efficacy, or even that it will ever exist. I'm also stating it will take time, years probably - so are we supposed to continue with business as usual all that time?

But how much are we talking about the other enforcement - the things that have kept them out for years?

We aren't. We are going along with the pretense of the half dozen stories - mostly tear jerker stories. A dozen at a time having anklets put on them or letting them know they are a target or even getting put in a detention facility doesn't get the job done.
We have tens of millions and they can only get 10/12- even 60 at a time? That is an insult to the American people.

Everyone is outraged about the wall - no one seems to be outraged our government is doing practically nothing about the problem inside the country. It's inside the country they are doing the damage, killing, raping, robbing, taking jobs, taking identification, taking benefits, taking things meant for our children and grandchildren. etc They are part of the huge debt we have that will be there hanging over our grandchildren unless it crushes the country before they begin to earn.

So while we debate a wall - we are just as vulnerable as ever. We may even be more vulnerable as the illegals have become emboldened now that it looks like this administration may be unwilling to do anything really.

Illegals used to be afraid of being caught by our laws. They didn't demand, march in our streets, disrespect our flag, our people our country.

Imagine how much damage can be done, in so many ways, by the time this wall get built? How many Americans will be killed, raped, robbed, not get a job, not get into college in the time we are building that wall.

Just asking people to think beyond a wall.
