Thread: Mex Consulates (48) Overstepping their Diplomatic Boundaries

I can't get an answer to the question of the limitations put on foreign diplomatic missions about what they can and cannot do in the US: there are 48 Mexican Consulates, triple the usual number for any country, obviously in the business of helping their compatriots breaking US laws... but they also agitate at local and state forums and even testify in state legislatures and lobby against law bills that Mexico does not like (Indiana is a case I know about.... where the Consul constantly parades around the state with state-appointed and state-paid employes, mostly with Hispanic names, talking trash against any anti-benefits regulations...

The "Latino Affairs Office" of the Governor of Indiana, along with the ICHLA (Indiana Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs) is hobnobbing with the Mexican Consul to various local forums presumably to discuss these issues with Americans.....

Even FAIR will not answer this question for me: what limitations are put on foreign consulates in lobbying elected offcials?

Pokie, it has to do with Intl Law as it relates to what the consulates can and cant do, you must look up Intl Law, it is in depth as it relates but the host country sets to teh guidelines to a certain degree but allot has to do with Intl Law and not domestic.

As for the amount of Consulates, the US has to have the equal same amount in Mexico, its how it works for every country.

Its is the way it works in the Intl World, for what ever many one nations has in one country there the equal amount in the other.

There are actually beau coodles of Americans who live in foreign countries when they retire so that they can live cheaply. Personally, I think that is a dumb idea but who am I?

Sounds like another collossal waste of taxpayer money to me.

Hey! Hey! Those politicians have to have some place to go on those boondoggle trips to waste even more of our money.

For example, how could guys like Sylvestre Reyes go to Korea if there wasn't an American consulate there so they could pretend to be our friends and so Reyes could pretend to be an American?
