    Things are getting worse

I walked into a Barbar Shop that I had been going to for about 7 years two weekends ago. I had been talking to the owner for months about him getting out of the business, the state of affairs of the nation (the illegal immigrant subject always came up), and his health...

Well, this day as I approached the door, there was a haircut chart which had Latino models where once a diverse display existed. As I opened the door, I saw a latino female cutting a latino male's hair. I was greeted with "we no longer cut the white mans hair" in very broken english. I was floored! You can't even imagine the wave of emotion that came over me at that moment. Rather than get into an arguement, I retreated from the front door and went somewhere else.

I don't think that lady understood what her words have done. I am now collecting lists on who I think are illegal, I have gotten numbers from this web site to report illegals, etc. I have had it, this is the United States of America, not the United State of Mexico. Something must be done...

And they call US racists? Follow through because this is crazy. They already use their language as a means to keep citizens away and then now this? Don't do "white mans hair"? Can you feature any white or black or asian etc. business blatently saying we don't do hispanic hair? This makes me sick and we're supposed to play nice?

That is blatent racial discrimination! I'd talk with a lawyer! Do they own the property? You need to get this all over your local news.

If that was a gringo saying that, the ACLU would be all over them with a law suit about how his 'civil' rights were violated or something stupid like that.

    wow

I was floored when I read your post. We just had a case of reverse discrimination on our city. The majority black school board demoted a white administrator -were bold and open about it- they were sued. A judge allowed it to go through, said case had merit. Then the board settled; white admin lady got about 1 million in various benefits.

I really want to hear what happens if you pursue this; and I hope you do. Send a black friend in there to see what happens. An Asian.

I would walk back in with a hidden tape recorder and a few of my friends. Get it on tape and file a discrimination suit against the business. I would tell the lawyer you can have what ever you can get. By the way welcome.

Great idea! Evidence is needed or else it is you word against theirs. Although, I would send a single person in, not you. They are less likely to say something like that in front of a group, whitnesses.

Without a doubt, this is racial discrimination. Sorry, they can not refuse you a haircut based on your race. Now, they can tell you they don't have experience cutting "gringo" hair and that you will sit in the chair at your own risk, but they cannot refuse you service based on your race. The poster above is right though, in a civil court case it would be your word against hers. Perhaps you could send a couple buddies in (together) for a haircut - if she repeats what she told you - it would then be three peoples word against hers. Do not go with them, because this may arouse suspicion. Please pursue this to the highest level you're comfortable with.

    novaman,

How upseting that must have been. I felt my heart sink when I read your words. I'm so sorry that happend to you.

I really wish you would considering going to an attorney. Ask the attorney to send other people in there and see if they get rejected because of race.

    More evidence!
