Cross border drug traffic means huge amounts of cash are being laundered and somebody is stumbling onto large bundles of 20 and hundred dollar bills.

Was the truck from Mexico or the United States (it doesn't say in the story)? Who were the drivers (Mexican or American)?

I would imagine that a large number are Mexican truckers who drop their shipments just north of the border where American truckers pick them up for the rest of the journey.

THIS was perhaps the BIGGEST reason to OPPOSE the Mexican trucking project!

OK. But the biggest problem, is how to stop the Americans that seem to have to have these drugs???
The drug war has been going on for years, but to stop it, the Americans that rely on these drugs has to end.
What is the answer to that?

True, mbrown. The War on Drugs is about as effective as our current war on terrorism or any other wars declared by the last 3 administrations.
The answers are probably very simple: CLOSE THE BORDERS, inspect everything and everyone coming into this country to at least 99.9 percent accuracy, throw out the illegals, and spend our tax dollars on something useful like helping the American people get over their addiction instead of waging foreign wars and protecting their borders instead of ours.
