Military families fraud

Some in Congress who demand amnesty for illegal aliens put the presumed "rights" of U.S. interlopers ahead of national interests.

Then there are those simply pandering for votes.

The Military Families Act represents the "most putrid kind of pandering".

The legislation would grant to thousands of active-duty military personnel permanent-resident status for all "illegal immigrant" immediate family members.

This includes relatives of soldiers who died in service since 2001.

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and other Democrats insist the country "owes" this much to the military.

If Mr. Menendez truly cared for what's owed, he'd be more interested in promoting soldiers' safety and welfare instead of dangling this useless piece of diversion.

What's proposed here is nothing more than another back door to illegals' amnesty -- and votes for the Democrats.

Today's military personnel and their U.S. families have more immediate concerns and needs, most notably proper medical care for the injured and those who'll live with permanent disabilities for the rest of their lives.

Incidentally, the military already provides an expedited path to citizenship for immigrant recruits with temporary visas.

The only ones served by the Military Families Act are those Democrats who put their own agenda ahead of the more pressing needs of U.S. soldiers.
