Mitt Romney offers to assist Donald Trump in Cabinet

Mitt Romney offers to assist Donald Trump in Cabinet

By S.A. Miller - The Washington Times
    Sunday, November 20, 2016

Mitt Romney went hat in hand to meet President-elect Donald Trump this weekend and offer his services to someone he denounced as unfit to be commander in chief, signaling the GOP establishment’s near-complete capitulation to an outsider who defied the party and captured the White House.

Mr. Romney, the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, embodied the Washington establishment’s resistance to Mr. Trump. He took the unprecedented step of speaking out during the primary to denounce the fellow Republican as a “fraud” and “phony,” saying the real estate mogul’s reckless behavior and uninformed foreign policy views would threaten the safety of America and the world.

He sang a different tune Saturday when he emerged from the meeting at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he was interviewed for the job of secretary of state.

“I look forward to the coming administration and the things that it’s going to be doing,” Mr. Romney said as he left the clubhouse after a nearly 90-minute meeting.

“We had a far reaching conversation with regards to the various theaters in the world where there are interests of the United States of real significance. We discussed those areas, and exchanged our views on those topics,” he said.

Mr. Trump was roundly applauded for acting graciously in victory by bringing in Mr. Romney. During the campaign, Mr. Trump had dismissed the former Massachusetts governor as a loser. He said Mr. Romney “choked like a dog” when he failed to beat President Obama in 2012.

Apparently this one got missed or buried in a thread somewhere. So here it is. Mitt called Trump to congratulate him, that's a fact, Mitt also "offers to assist in the Cabinet", that is a fact. Mitt wants the Secretary of State position, that is a fact. Mitt went to Trump "hat in hand" begging for the Secretary of State position, that is a fact.

Trump didn't do this. Romney did this.

I didn't see anything about a phone call or Romney begging for the Secretary of State position in the article. Maybe it went more like this: Trump called Romney to Trump Tower to discuss a possible job in his administration. End of story. Not that it matters, but I can speculate too.

You are so uninformed, MW. Start reading Trump's Tweets so you can at least keep up, okay? Having to waste someone's time bringing you up to date on what the whole frigging world already knows is a little tiresome and this is the last time I'm going to do it for you.

Your extremely rude posturing is very irritating. If you're attempting to provoke me, mission accomplished! I've asked nothing from you. It's your incessant need to have the last word in in almost ever instance that forces you to respond.

Your second link doesn't say much more than your first one. Neither article says anything about Romney "begging" for the Secretary of State job. As far as we know it was Trump that asked him if he was interested in the job, be it through a meeting or phone call. Just because I don't live and breath by following every word that comes out of Trump mouth doesn't make me uninformed. The truth matters and you have a very bad habit of passing things off as fact when they actually aren't.
