    Obama re: Elvira deportation

Obama: Arellano's plight shows 'broken immigration system'
    by Christi Parsons

Barack Obama says he doesn't approve of activist Elvira Arellano's defiance of U.S. immigration law, but he argues that her situation illustrates the problems of the current system and calls for immediate legal reform.

Obama met late last year in his Senate office to talk about immigration reform with Arellano, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who took refuge in a Humboldt Park church for a year to avoid deportation.

Since her deportation over the weekend, Arellano has been in Tijuana trying to figure out whether her son -- who has lived most of his life in Chicago -- will stay with her in Mexico or return to Illinois.

"I’ve met with Elvira Arellano and her son, and I understand the challenges that they and millions of other undocumented immigrants face," Obama says in a new written statement about the activist.

"Although I do not condone Ms. Arellano’s defiance of the law, her plight is representative of a broken immigration system," he said. "We need comprehensive immigration reform that creates a system that is fair, consistent, compassionate, and emphasizes both maintaining the rule of law and the security of our borders while working to keep families
    together."

Obama has shown once again that he lacks the judgement and experience to be president. Our country does not need "comprehensive immigration reform" i.e., amnesty; what we need is our laws to be enforced.

I am just wondering how they came up with "a broken immigration system".

There's nothing wrong with our system. It's sad that the bottom of mexico's society has fooled these idiots called politicians.

Our immigration system is not broken The laws have never been enforced, so there still new. Can't break something if you don't use it. It's our government that's broken.

I am getting so tired of hearing this old rhetoric. Enforcement of the laws we already have is all that is needed. When they talke about "reform" what the really mean is amnesty. They want to reform the laws to allow them to be here legally.

Obama, you will never become President of the US because your views on immigration and your working relationship with this felon are so far off the deep end you should quit now.

Does he have any views? He didn't say anything there - "illegal immigrants are bad but we need to make it okay for them." He's trying to appease both sides by riding the fense right down the middle.

I agree he is never going to be President of the United States, because he is a divider and on the wrong side of every important issue.

    He should just shut up.

Now how do you like that! "met last year IN HIS SENATE OFFICE to talk about immigration reform".....

Hey, Obama, when was the last time you met with an American family who has lost a loved one, or loved ones due to illegal immigration?

Buddy, you'll never be president because in the first place, you haven't even figured out who you were elected to represent!!
