Rumors are circulating in the Mexican media that the author of the San Fernando Valley massacres is a deported gangbanger.

The body count from mass graves found in ranches outside San Fernando, Tamaulipas has now climbed to 116.

The El Milenio newspaper reported that another 28 more bodies have been discovered in graves there.

The announcement was made in joint press conference with Tamaulipas Gov. Egidio Torre-Cantu and federal officials in Mexico City on Tuesday afternoon.

Mexico's Attorney General's Office (PGR) reported that Zetas drug cartel are being blamed for the deaths.

PGR officials reported 16 people were previously arrested while a 17th suspect identified as Jhonny Torres Andrade was taken into custody on Tuesday.

El Milenio reported that two women are among the bodies which arrived in Matamoros this morning.

Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office investigators Jose Alfredo Rodriguez told El Milenio that there are no children among the bodies.

DNA tests continue but The Associated Press reported that one of the bodies has already been identified as a Guatemalan national.

The Guatemalan Foreign Ministry told The Associate Press that the victim has been identified as 44-year-old Feliciano Tagual Ovalle.
