    Senator Feinstein's (D-CA) email response

Thank you for writing to me about the immigration reform debate that has been taking place during the 110th Congress.

The current immigration system is not working - our borders are broken, our national security is compromised, and there is no feasible way to identify and deal with the 10 to 12 million undocumented people now living in the United States. I understand there were mixed reactions to the bipartisan bill that the Senate considered and that there are very strong feelings about this issue. I believe that while that bill was not perfect, it was a reasonable compromise.

Unfortunately, the comprehensive immigration reform bill has stalled in the Senate. Therefore, I believe the next step must be to pass the individual priorities contained within the larger bill, starting with the "Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security Act of 2007" (AgJOBS). AgJOBS is an important bill to address the current labor shortage facing agriculture today. It will allow certain undocumented agricultural workers to legalize their immigration status in the United States if they can show that they have been working in agriculture and commit to continue working in agriculture for three to five years. It will also reform the current H-2A agricultural guest worker program to streamline the process for applying for a legal workforce.

Again, thank you for writing. I have enclosed a copy of a floor statement I gave when immigration reform was first brought up for debate for your review, so that you may better understand my position on this issue. I hope that you will continue to write on matters of importance to you. Best regards.

She's basically proposing passing the amnesty bill a piece at a time instead of all at once.

    She's my hero...NOT.

Can you believe, even though we have 20+ illegal people in our country they want to import MORE people..........They are Defintely Out of Touch living in their gated protected homes, chauffered where ever they go and believe me they do not visit the neighborhoods we live in.....They do not have a clue.

I wrote to her and I got a email stating since I am not a CA. citizen she could not respond to me. I think you CA. citizens should write to her and suggest using prisoners which is a win win situation instead of bringing more immigrants to our immigrant overloaded country.

I got about 20 copies of this email yesterday. AgJobs is Feinstein's baby; she isn't going to let this go easily it's going to take a fight. And we all know they're going to try to slip pieces of the Amnesty bill in other legislation. We have to be vigilant in watching for and fighting this!

I'm very skeptical about her support for Ramos and Compean as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm overjoyed she's doing it; but I suspect she has an agenda. She needs to go even further. If she really wants to support law enforcement and our Border Patrol she should do it all the way around. This would include writing legislation to support and encourage the ag industry to mechanize and use prison labor rather than ILLEGAL labor. NOT writing and pushing legislation to support ILLEGAL laborers/invaders.

I believe Feinstein is helping Ramos and Compean to soften the blow over her ags job bill, makes it look like she is doing something for the people. Right! we believe that Feinstein, in you dream.

Exactly my sentiments! I feel she's trying to remove a source of outrage among us to distract us and tone things down. I'm thankful she's supporting Ramos and Compean but it's not enough.

She's playing both sides of the fence to some degree but she probably realizes her "support" of Ramos and Compean is meaningless. All she's really done for Ramos and Compean is say what we've known all along. Her support of the pro-amnesty, illegal alien lobby is much more substantial because she's pushing legislation that WILL make a difference to THEM.

Really, grandma Fein "Franken" Stein? Even though MOST Americans oppose illegals being in the U.S., YOU believe that's the next step? When is this hag up for re-election? She will be voted out.
