    NC Illegal Aliens Need Not Apply Community Colleges

    Fox News just reported that North Carolina will no longer accept illegal aliens in their community colleges. The report didn't say much more than that. Maybe they will have more on this today.

    How many states have that law and how many of us have stupid leaders? Anyone know?

    North Carolina Community Colleges Will No Longer Admit Illegal Immigrants
    Tuesday, May 13, 2008

    RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's community colleges will no longer admit illegal immigrants, returning to more restrictive policy on the advice of the state Attorney General's Office.

    Last year, the system said it would enroll illegal immigrants who are 18 years old and high school graduates at all of its 58 campuses. The policy provoked heavy criticism, especially from the leading candidates for governor.

    The system later asked North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper for guidance on whether the admissions policy was legal under federal law. Last week, Cooper's office suggested the system drop the admissions policy.

    On Tuesday, the community colleges said it would follow the advice from Cooper's office.

    Community colleges to bar illegal immigrants

    Raleigh, N.C. — North Carolina's 58 community colleges will no longer allow illegal immigrants to enroll, officials said Tuesday.

    The move follows an advisory letter issued a week ago by the state Attorney General's Office recommending that community colleges tighten their admissions standards to be more in line with federal laws.

    “We asked the Attorney General’s Office for clarification of our present policy and will abide by their advice,â€

    Community college officials said illegal immigrants who are already enrolled would be allowed to finish their studies and earn degrees.
    Hopefully ICE is at the colleges the last testing day and brings plenty of handcuffs!
