My Brazilian friend speaks FIVE languages--Portuguese, French, German, English, AND Spanish, and has a BACHELOR's degree in them, PLUS bachelors' in education, science, and psychology. Yet, finding a job here in Dallas, TX, has been TOUGH for her. While seeking a teaching job, she often reported seeing teachers in OUR schools who know LITTLE or even NO English. It really PUZZLED her since teachers in OUR country are LEGALLY required to know English. She was FRUSTRATED, too, by CONSTANT rejection for BILINGUAL or MULTILINGUAL jobs. Yet, she noted that ILLEGALS seemed to have NO problem getting such work. "HOW on earth can they hire for multilingual positions people who CAN'T even READ their OWN language, MUCH less ENGLISH?!" she asked. Good question, amiga!

keeping it quite
A few month ago they found out these IA's were showing up on jobs, leaving and having there someone else replacing them while they going to other jobs. Didn’t make the news no arrest!
Someone needs to launch an investigation, this town could help a lot of hungry families in the midwest by offering them jobs.<div>Do your job and enforce the law!

ACLU
I thought the "A" in aclu stood for American, guess not. I have had similar experience with my kid, it’s not right, just wish I knew what to do.

I don't mean to sound rude but kids fresh out of college with a relevant science degree get paid 15 dollars an hour (I won't even tell you what history majors get paid). You have a high school degree I'm guessing with several years of experience in a specific trade. 12-18 dollars an hour? That sounds about right. I used to work for a place that helped people find jobs so I know how much money most people can expect to make. A high school degree doesn't cut in today's job market. Some people are very lucky and find companies that value them and are paid more than the market value (my brother in law was at one point making 6 figures on a technical degree) but those jobs are becoming more rare since NAFTA and other free trade agreements began.
Those illegals making 18 must be very specialized in their trade to be making 18 dollars an hour.
If I had to guess it seems like you have experience doing a specialized trade (why you were being paid so much at your last job) but unfortunately your skill set is no longer relevant so now you have to start from square one again.
It's hard trying starting over from square one late in life.

maybe Anti-american but better yet replace it with an
"I" for Illegal or
"C" for Criminal ...
These are more the appropriate terminologies! From the Border Movie:

It isn't that the skills aren't relevant, its that the American people are irrevelvant. I made $12 an hour in 1980. So $5 more per hour 28 years later, isn't really a good wage. Thats comes out to an 18 cents an hour raise per year. Whoopie! I think my rent on a very nice and new 1400 square foot apartment with all the aminites was $325 a month back then, today that same apartment is $800 a month and its 28 years old now and no where as nice as it used to be. Ain't it great? So that price has more than doubled while my pay has barely moved. And the economist wonder why people don't save money anymore. Go figure!Unless we get those criminals & make them pay for what they have done to our country and the lawlessness they have sponsored, we are just another Mexico ourselves!
