I've been consoling myself that at least we don't have to press '2' for English - yet.

some places actually do make you do that. others will auto-disconnect you if you refuse to press any button. If I was from china I would sue on grounds of discrimination.

I once called a business and it said "press 1 for English", "press 2 for Spanish", so I did neither, refusing to participate in this PC telephone run-around.

Soon I was connected to a person who asked if there was a problem, and I said ,"no", I just figured I might have made a mistake and called a company outside of America.

We shouldn't have to listen to it at all.

It should be a given that anyone calling an American place of business, inside America that the call will be answered in English and no other language.

Debra, that would be fantastic. The only thing though is you would have all those illegal supporters crying foul and how it discriminates in one form or another. But still, I would love to hear that message.

Hahahaha...I recently did something similar when I called a business. I didn't select either one and someone answered the phone in English. If I had been thinking, I should have asked them for the Japaneese option.
