I still blame America's voracious appetite for drugs as the main problem concerning the cartels. Mexico has always been corrupt and as long as the demand is there, there will continue to be a supplier willing to kill innocent people for money.

Both countries deserve equal blame. Dealers are not less guilty than users.

AE, Wow, you’ve been through some terrifying events. I would be happier living in eastern Oregon, but you’re right, employment is scarce. Oregon has sure changed over the years and not for the better.

That area down there, is the armpit of Gresham. Ok, maybe armpit is just not fitting, maybe it is more like Gresham's.....ok back end we'll say.
I agree, that we have drug users who make the cartels work easy, and of course, we'd love to cure that problem, but since this is a free nation, we cannot choose peoples paths for them, including any addictions they might decide to involve themselves in.
The best we can do is to make the penalties for their possession, or crimes surrounding their drug uses as severe as the law can allow. This way we either have them locked up, and hopefully getting some help finally, or make the punishment so that it is a deterrent to using at all.
The people who broke into our place were white, and likely meth users. They were bold and unafraid. In fact the last one, I had sheer/lace curtains up under my solid ones, and one side was open to watch for headlights, and I had that very distinct feeling I was being watched at that window and wrote it off as just being paranoid.
Then this person tried the sliding door in the back (I heard that "Click" you will hear when it is locked), which had half open blinds, and I WAS visible in the living room, then they tried popping open the kitchen window. So knowing this, the guy was certainly aware I was there and awake, and makes me wonder how terribly bad that could have turned out and what the other intentions were........
With meth, their minds are terribly warped and they fear nothing and do not care about what they do, or who they do it to.
As for Mexico, we simply need a good, long fence, with all of the newest surveillance equipment we can possibly get hold of. Make illegal border crossings a federal offense and one that the price, within our laws, is quite high for. It is our one way to protect ourselves from these violent cartels. As well, make those same laws apply to those coming here illegally to work, then it might be less desirable to come and rape the American public for all they can get out of us.“In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, For then it costs nothing to be a Patriot.â€
