NO MORE ANCHOR BABIES / BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP HR1940

We have to address this issue, "ANCHOR BABIES." The birth of an "anchor baby" immediately attaches the family unit to the United States. Though the child is being declared a citizen without either parent being legal, the cries from illegal aliens to not seperate families, don't seperate me from my US born child/children is playing to sympathy for illegal aliens, their supporters and given publicity by the media.

Here is the bill HR1940 as brought up by Representative Nathan Deal of Georgia:

    Legislation > H.R. 1940 (110th U.S. Congress: 2007-200
H.R. 1940: To amend section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify those classes of...
    HR 1940 IH

    110th CONGRESS
    1st Session
    H. R. 1940
To amend section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify those classes of individuals born in the United States who are nationals and citizens of the United States at birth.

    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
    April 19, 2007

Mr. DEAL of Georgia (for himself, Mr. BILBRAY, and Mr. DANIEL E. LUNGREN of California) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

    A BILL
To amend section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify those classes of individuals born in the United States who are nationals and citizens of the United States at birth.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

    SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007'.

SEC. 2. CITIZENSHIP AT BIRTH FOR CERTAIN PERSONS BORN IN THE UNITED STATES.

    (a) In General- Section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1401) is amended--

    (1) by inserting `(a) IN GENERAL- ' before `The following';

    (2) by redesignating paragraphs (a) through (h) as paragraphs (1) through (; and

    (3) by adding at the end the following:

`(b) Definition- Acknowledging the right of birthright citizenship established by section 1 of the 14th amendment to the Constitution, a person born in the United States shall be considered `subject to the jurisdiction' of the United States for purposes of subsection (a)(1) if the person is born in the United States of parents, one of whom is--

    `(1) a citizen or national of the United States;

`(2) an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States whose residence is in the United States; or

`(3) an alien performing active service in the armed forces (as defined in section 101 of title 10, United States Code).'.

    (b) Applicability- The amendment made by subsection (a)(3) shall not be construed to affect the citizenship or nationality status of any person born before the date of the enactment of this Act.

FAXES should go out to end the birthright citizenship practice for illegal aliens who have children on American soil. They are citizens of another country, they are not of our jurisdiction and we should demand this misinterpretation of the 14th amendment ends. The billions in dollars that are being paid for by American taxpayers to keep the anchor baby fraud going is going to have to end or cripple us completely. These illegal aliens are often young, child bearing in age and they are totally aware of the benefits of having a child on US soil.

We pay health insurance that generally covers childbirth, these illegal aliens pay NOTHING and yet receive the very same care. Ending this very act is vital to ending a big, fat magnet to illegal aliens.

Let's get the message out, STOP THE ANCHOR BABIES (Birthright Citizenship), Americans cannot afford this insanity

I totally agree and back this. We need to know how to proceed in getting this accomplished. I am not sure of the procedures to get this amendment meaning corrected and stop making these babies auto-citizens.

The bill is being brought up regularly and the sponsors need to get on it again and we need to put the light on the issue and vocalize the harm it is doing to America.

Immigration reform tops area lawmakers' agendas

"The continued flood of illegal immigration must be addressed," said Rep. Nathan Deal, R-Ga., whose congressional district in North Georgia includes a high immigrant population. "I strongly oppose Democratic-proposed amnesty legislation."

Rep. Deal said he will work to block "magnets" to immigration, such as automatic birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants.

U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., is calling for drastic action to secure the borders and for a change in birthright citizenship law so that at least one of the parents must be a U.S. citizen before a baby can be granted instant citizenship at birth in the United States.

I know Representative Zach Wamp from Tennessee has been a backer of the legislation. Let's get our Representatives and Senators to address the issue now.[/quote]

Just this week on C-Span there was a Congressman speaking out about this issue. Don't remember the name: but the Immigration Caucus in the House must be working on this issue.

We neeed to send thanks to all House members participating in the Caucus, especially the Dems, who are probably taking a lot of heat from their party.

Pleae do your own web search and see what you can turn up as far as an introduced bill; I know that at least the issue has been raised.

This is what I tried to emphasize in my calls to Senator Burr this week. So very many of the illegal immigrants here are women who will never be guest workers in the USA. They have come here and had children and have started collecting the benefits. Z-visas, employement verification and all that stuff they talked about will never even apply to these people. There has got to be an end to anchor baby citizenship and an ending of taxpayer benefits to the millions that come here just to get everything free.

Ask your Representative to cosponsor H.R. 1940 to prevent birthright citizenship

On April 19. 2007 Representative Nathan Deal (R-GA) introduced H.R. 1940, The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007. H.R. 1940 would end the process of granting automatic birthright citizenship to the babies born in the United States to illegal aliens. Send this fax to your U.S. Representative asking them to cosponsor H.R. 1940, a bill to end the practice of granting automatic U.S. citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens.

    DETAILS:

Referred to as "anchor babies," these children born in the United States are one of the most prominent factors of excessive population expansion and illegal immigration. A spring 2005 article in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons cited that "Between 300,000 and 350,000 anchor babies annually become citizens… In 2003 in Stockton, California, 70 percent of the 2,300 babies born in San Joaquin General Hospital's maternity ward were anchor babies…"

This staggering number will only increase immigration levels and incentives for illegal immigration because anchor babies become eligible to sponsor their relatives and illegal alien mothers when they turn 21 years of age. Currently, there is no formal policy that forbids DHS from deporting the illegal alien parents of a child born in the U.S. Yet in most cases, immigration officials habitually choose not to initiate removal proceedings, allowing the parents to remain in the U.S. illegally.

Anchor babies additionally draw benefits and services from taxpayer dollars. The article continues by explaining "Anchor babies are citizens, and instantly qualify for public welfare aid…In 1994, 74,987 anchor babies in California hospital maternity units cost $215 million and constituted 36 percent of all Medi-Cal births. Now they account for substantially more than half." This is just one more incentive for illegal immigration. Not only can the baby serve as an "anchor" to pull a large number of extended family members into the country, they also can rely on the public services and benefits of the United States.

Captainron, I believe it was Ron Paul who was going to introduce an amendment to stop automatic citizenship by birth of illegals.

Sippy and CaptainRon, we could call, fax, email support of legislation to end "Birthright Citizenship," to Ron Paul. Numbers USA has more information on their site and as mentioned earlier, we should contact sponsors of the bill to push the issue forward.

The news just said an immigration bill was probably coming back as they played clip of Lindsey Graham saying no bill without guest worker section. They said Trent Lott felt he could deliver the votes if allowed more time. Reid blamed the White House again.

We do need to address the ANCHORE BABY issue...and while this is a key issue in the immigration reform...it really can't be addressed as part of an immigration bill because it is a Constitutional Admendment. It is VERY difficult to change admendments.

So, while I think this needs to be ELIMINATED...I think we really need to attack this as a seperate issue from the Immigration Reform. Once we have the Immigration Reform that will secure the borders, build ALL the fence, eliminate welfare and employment insentives, HEAVY fines to employers who employ illegals, etc...we can the turn all of our focus and energy towards eliminating the 14th Amendment!

Maybe we can do these things simultaneously...but that is going to take a LOT of energy and LOTS of people to be united to get it done that way. BUT...It could happen!
