No More 'B.S.!' Look Who Trump Picks for EU Ambassador

No more 'B.S.!' Look who Trump picks for EU ambassador

Posted By -NO AUTHOR- On 02/05/2017

WASHINGTON – The next U.S. ambassador to the European Union is warning that his boss, President Donald Trump, won’t take any “bull—-” from Brussels.

How’s that for start to diplomacy?

Ted Malloch, Trump’s pick for the post, shocked BBC presenters Sunday morning with his bluntness, predicting the impending collapse of the EU as President Trump continues to lay down the law.

During an interview with Pienaar’s Politics, the economist, WND author and contributor said the time is over for “baby talk and political correctness” of EU elites such as Angela Merkel, Jean-Claude Juncker and Guy Verhofstadt.
The early Brexit backer said Trump doesn’t want Germany to rule Europe.

In an extraordinary pushback, he said that whether the EU likes it or not, Trump will only deal with countries on a nation-by-nation basis. To add insult to injury, Malloch, author of “Hired: An Insider’s Look at the Trump Victory” and “Davos, Aspen and Yale: My Life Behind the Elite Curtainas a Global Sherpa,” said Britain would be key to U.S. relations with the EU in the post-Brexit era. He urged Theresa May to continue her role as a bridge between the EU and the U.S.

In response to European Parliament Brexit negotiator Guy Verhofstadt’s call for rejecting Malloch’s ambassadorial appointment, he said only America would choose American diplomats and if the EU dared to intervene, there would an “equal measure of response in Washington.” Verhostadt had signaled that the appointment should be rejected because of Malloch’s “outrageous malevolence against the values that define this European Union.”

“Trump hopes that Europe succeeds completely and he wants to deal with them bilaterally,” Malloch said. “But obviously, he doesn’t want a union that is tilted towards Germany.”

When pressed how Trump would speak to the EU on a nation-by-nation basis instead of a giant bloc, he seemed to suggest the complete break-up of the political union.

“The hope is that the EU can come to some understanding and the union itself, which is in a process of adjustment, will see its role as something more of an economic integration, rather than political,” explained Malloch.

Earlier in the interview, he proclaimed that Trump is “too noble for this world.” Quoting from Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus,” he said Trump’s “heart is his mouth.”

“Trump won’t cow down to the powers that be,” Malloch continued. “He’ll speak his mind even if gets him in trouble or is held in disregard by others. It used to be called honesty but in the age of baby talk and political correctness, and mostly bull—-, it’s now regarded as dishonesty.”

Last month, the Trump insider clashed with Brussels when he said that he “helped bring about the demise of the USSR and he would like to do a similar thing with the EU.”

LOVE IT!! The EU is trying to figure out how to "reject" the US Ambassador to the EU. What kind of outfit is this EU?

DOWN WITH THE EU TYRANTS!! They don't tell US who our ambassador is to their stupid globalist socialist cabal. I guess Brussels forgot how important NATO is to them and who NATO "is", huh? These are crazy people in the EU.

Brussels threatens to block Trump’s EU ambassador

If the US president picks Ted Malloch as his man in Brussels, Europe could say No.

Donald Trump’s reported favorite for EU ambassador is already facing headwind in Brussels, with some officials keen to teach the American president a lesson over a potential diplomat they say is anything but diplomatic.

Ted Malloch, an economist with ties to the president’s inner circle, has raised eyebrows by comparing the EU to the Soviet Union (which he claims to have helped bring down,) saying that the bloc needs “taming.” He has also spoken disparagingly of Jean-Claude Juncker, suggesting the European Commission president “was a very adequate mayor, I think, of some city in Luxembourg and maybe he should go back and do that again.”

On Thursday, the liberal leader in the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, and the leader of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, sent a letter to Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk saying that Malloch should not be granted credentials, citing his “outrageous malevolence against the values that define this European Union.”

“We are strongly convinced that people seeing as their mission to disrupt or dissolve the European Union should not be accredited as official representatives to the EU,” the letter said.

Gianni Pittella, president of the Socialists and Democrats group in the European Parliament, argued in a plenary speech Wednesday for “blocking the appointment of Malloch” for his “delirious” statements. He later told POLITICO that Malloch is “not welcome here” and called on the EU to “send him back home.”

“In general, you send an ambassador to build constructive relationships — not saying you should be tamed” — Senior EU official

Privately, EU diplomats agree that Malloch would not be a suitable choice for the job.

“We still do not know what to do with the new U.S. administration,” said one top EU official. “In general, you send an ambassador to build constructive relationships — not saying you should be tamed.”

While it would be highly unusual for the EU to try to block an appointee, it is not impossible, though it wouldn’t be up to MEPs as it is the European Commission and Tusk that issue credentials to an ambassador.
    Protocol and process

Anthony Gardner, the outgoing U.S. ambassador, left his post in Brussels on January 20, going out in a blaze with a warning to Trump not to botch the transatlantic alliance.

Adam Shub, the deputy head of the U.S. mission to the EU, has served as the acting ambassador since. If everything goes smoothly, the new U.S. ambassador is likely to be in Brussels at the earliest in June.

    But it could take longer.

Malloch has not yet been picked officially and any candidate will have to be vetted in the U.S. first — a process that includes FBI background checks and scrutiny of financial interests and former public statements before the candidate goes before the U.S. Senate for a confirmation hearing.

Then, to get the ambassador appointed to the EU, Washington has to send the person’s resumé to the European Commission’s protocol service which makes an assessment in consultation with the office of EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini — a procedure that usually takes about eight weeks.

EU capitals then have a month to oppose the request and unanimous consent is required for the credentials to be issued. Usually, any concerns are dealt with privately before the person has been officially announced and there is no record of the EU ever denying a request.

“I would not be surprised if some member states are going to oppose him,” said Jean De Ruyt, a former Belgian ambassador to the EU, who argued that, rather than go through the process of publicly refusing him after the fact, it would be better for the Commission to hint to Washington early on that Malloch is an unacceptable choice.

One official said it would be unique for an ambassador to be refused on account of something that the person had said.

For any country or state, “it is very rare to refuse credentials” for diplomats, the official said. “Usually, they are only refused for convicted felons.”

In 2015, the Vatican refused to accept the credentials of a French diplomat, Laurent Stefanini, who is gay. After a nine-month stand-off with the Holy See, Paris gave up.

“If Donald Trump nominates someone who said publicly he wanted to destroy the European Union … it does not portend the best relationship” — Tereza Novotna, EU foreign policy expert at ULB

Without credentials, the ambassador will be an ambassador in name only and have no privileged access to top EU officials, meetings or institutions and no diplomatic privileges such as tax exemptions.

If the EU refuses to grant credentials to a candidate, another name can be put forward or the post can be left vacant, with a more junior diplomat in charge of the embassy.

For now, though, the Trump administration hasn’t made an official pick or made a request for credentials.

“So let’s take a step at a time,” said one EU official.

But Tereza Novotna, an EU foreign policy expert and a researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, said early resistance may be better.

“EU countries may need to weigh the pros and cons of the right time to protest,” she said. “If you don’t start at the beginning [of the process] then it will be harder to reject anyone later,” she said, adding: “If Donald Trump nominates someone who said publicly he wanted to destroy the European Union … it does not portend the best relationship.”

MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF EUROPE!! Think hard about your past, your history, and let USA know if you remember who your future is with, the Americans and the United States OR a bunch of socialist globalist technocrats in Busssels. When you figure it out, let US know.

Meanwhile, we're going to be busy solving other problems, dealing with other issues of our own and oh yes, making new friends while you analyze your options and determine who you want to be friends with.

EU and its policies are a danger to the world, especially their own citizens. They have been breeding jihadists for decades and do nothing to correct the situation. They take back fighters and don't even watch them. "They have no proof they fought". Well if Turkey deports you, that is reason enough.

Turkey says Brussels attacker deported in 2015, Belgium ignored warning

This CCTV image from the Brussels Airport surveillance cameras made available by Belgian Police, shows what officials believe may be suspects in the Brussels airport attack on March 22, 2016.

One of the attackers in the Brussels suicide bombings was deported last year from Turkey, and Belgium subsequently ignored a warning that the man was a militant, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.

Erdogan's office identified the man as Ibrahim El Bakraoui, one of the two brothers named by Belgium as responsible for the attacks that killed at least 31 people in Brussels on Tuesday and were claimed by the Islamic State group.

In previous cases, officials have said that without evidence of crime, such as having fought in Syria, they cannot jail people deported from Turkey. Among such cases was Brahim Abdeslam, one of the suicide bombers in Paris in November, who was also sent back to Belgium from Turkey early last year.

Erdogan told a news conference that Bakraoui was detained in the southern Turkish province of Gaziantep near the Syrian border and was later deported to the Netherlands. Turkey also notified Dutch authorities, Erdogan said.

A Dutch government official said Erdogan's comments were "being carefully looked into," but that they could not yet say if El Bakraoui had been in the Netherlands.

"One of the attackers in Brussels is an individual we detained in Gaziantep in June 2015 and deported. We reported the deportation to the Belgian Embassy in Ankara on July 14, 2015, but he was later set free," Erdogan said.

"Belgium ignored our warning that this person is a foreign fighter."

Erdogan's office confirmed that Bakraoui was deported to the Netherlands. It said he was later released by Belgian authorities as "no links with terrorism" were found. It was not clear when Bakraoui was handed over to Belgian authorities.

Erdogan initially said Bakraoui was deported in June. His office later said he was detained in June and deported in July.

Belgian newspaper Le Soir quoted Justice Minister Koen Geens as confirming Bakraoui was deported to the Netherlands. Geens' spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.

The attacks in Brussels came just days after a suspected Islamic State suicide bomber blew himself up in Istanbul's most popular shopping district, killing three Israelis and an Iranian and wounding dozens.

Marine Le Pen announced she is running for President of France and she wants to have referendum for France to withdraw from EU. She's also no fan of NATO.
