Numbers USA Alert: Call these Senators to Stop Amnesty

IF ANY OF YOU IN YOUR CALLING HAS NOT HIT THESE SENATORS--PLEASE DO SO NOW!!!!!!

    From: Roy Beck, President, NumbersUSA

    Date: Monday 14MAY07 11 p.m. EDT

Can you stop your pro-amnesty Senator from doing it again -- TUE is crucial to block bill

FRIENDS, AMNESTY DEAL CAN BE STOPPED TUESDAY WITH YOUR FAXES AND CALLS.

I'm sending this to those of you in the states with the pivotal Senators listed below who will probably make more difference than any one in determining whether an amnesty vote passes on Wednesday.

We will be providing fax and phone notes on your Action Buffet corkboard for you to especially tell your Senator about the new American Legion statement urging a defeat of all amnesty actions.

During a time of war with hundreds of thousands of our boys and girls in harm's way, why would these Senators want to deny a single veteran a job because they have decided to give U.S. jobs permanently to 12-20 million illegal aliens?

You can see more (and links) about the appeal from the nation's largest veterans organization on our Home Page.

REPUBLICAN SENATORS WHO VOTED FOR THE S. 2611 AMNESTY OF LAST YEAR AND WHO ARE UP FOR RE-ELECTION NEXT YEAR

    Coleman -- Minnesota
    Collins -- Maine
    Craig -- Idaho
    Domenici -- New Mexico
    Graham -- South Carolina
Hagel -- Nebraska (may be running for President)
McConnell -- Kentucky (the Senate Republican leader)
    Smith -- Oregon
    Stevens -- Alaska
    Warner -- Virginia

PHONE YOUR SENATOR ON THIS LIST (and any others) at:
    202-224-3121

Amnesty will pass the Senate unless at least five of these 10 Senators switch their votes from YES-AMNESTY to NO-AMNESTY.

These Senators are nearly all from small states with fewer NumberUSA activists. We can't afford for any of you to sit this one out.

PLEASE GO TO YOUR ACTION BUFFET and look for new fax and phone notes. Our writing team will be posting these new actions over the night and into the morning.

PLEASE OPEN EACH SPECIFIC ACTION ALERT that we send containing the direct link to the fax and phone action pages.

Believe it or not, because of your constant pounding since their horrifying amnesty votes a year ago, most of these Senators are leaning at this moment toward voting AGAINST the amnesty on Wednesday.

But our sources say that most of them very easily would swing back to amnesty if President Bush personally twists their arms before Wednesday.

Please send the fax we are preparing for you and then make this crucial phone call (the talking points will be on your Phone Action Note on your Action Buffet corkboard).

THE PRECARIOUS SITUATION ON THE HILL
AS WE SEE IT AT THIS MOMENT

Rumors are flying around Capitol Hill tonight that the staffers of the Republican and Democratic Senate negotiators have an agreement for an amnesty.

Supposedly, they will be running the compromise by their bosses (the Senators) Tuesday. If the Senators agree, the open-borders folks hope that means the amnesty can get the required 60 votes for a debate and probable passage.

The announcement of agreement could come Tuesday night.

But your actions Tuesday as soon as you see this can keep that from happening. Our Hill Team really believes that.

If your Senators feel frightened enough of the political consequences, they can signal to their Party leaders that they want to see the amnesty stopped Wednesday.

    1. Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) filed for cloture today on S. 1348. That bill is virtually the same as the S. 2611 amnesty that passed the Senate a year ago.

    2. The "cloture" vote will be Wednesday on Rule 14. That is the rule that allows a bill to be brought to the Senate floor for a vote without going through the discussion, debate and amending of a committee. Because some Senators have promised to filibuster the Rule 14, Reid will need 60 Senators voting YES on cloture (which means an end to debate on the rule) to allow the debate on the actual bill to begin.

    3. Our greatest hope is that Reid will fall short of the 60 votes.

    4. If Reid gets the 60 votes, there will be several days of debate and probably a lot of amendments.

    5. Then, Reid will have to have another cloture vote to end debate and allow a final vote on the amnesty, probably late next week.

    A SPECIAL PRE-ELECTION MESSAGE

The list above is full of Senators who believe they know so much more than the citizens of their states about what is good for them.

For some reason, you in these states have yet to break through like the voters in Iowa who have caused Sen. Brownback to disavow his vote for the S. 2611 amnesty last year and to say he doesn't want to vote for an amnesty this year.

Please don't think these Senators are immune to voter pressure.

Most of them have developed very arrogant habits, thinking that they can give the Chamber of Commerce lobbyists anything they want without any political repercussions. It is up to you to make them be a little more concerned about the people who hire them.

Talk to them about how continued support for rewarding illegal immigration may just win them a primary challenge next year.

Tell these Senators that any bill that gives indefinite or permanent legal residence and legal work to illegal aliens is an amnesty that will likely play a major role in next year's elections. Tell them that they may have found it fairly easy to win in the past, but a colossal political error like voting annually for amnesties can change that.

VOTING AGAINST THE VETERANS IN A TIME OF WAR MAY NOT BE THE SMARTEST WAY TO STAY POPULAR WITH THE VOTERS

    Your key request should be:

"Vote NO on cloture on Rule 14 on S. 1348 ... and vote NO on cloture on any bill that would give legal residence to illegal aliens ... Don't let any of these bills be brought to a vote."

The American Legion says a vote for any of these bills that give legal residence to illegal aliens is a violation of the rule of law and what its members fought for.

The 2.7 million members of the American Legion wore the uniform and served our country during times of war in the past, at the request of the U.S. Congress and President.

The American Legion is calling on Congress to deal with illegal aliens with ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT options that will cause illegal workers and their families to voluntarily go home over time.

For those of you who are veterans, or are the families of veterans, or who have very strong feelings about honoring veterans, you will find the Legion declaration full of inspiring and thoughtful analysis of how to deal with illegal immigration problems. Read it at:

UNFORTUNATELY! My senator is on that list. (Smith, OR)

I just called, and was answered rather hastily and was transferred straight to the voice mail - interpretation - they are getting A LOT OF CALLS RIGHT NOW

Keep up the pressure folks, make their ears hurt today!

Speacial plea to give Graham's office a call today too - he really needs the attention.
