Just received this email:

GOP Senators said to be agreed with White House on alternate amnesty for illegal aliens

DEAR OPPONENTS OF AMNESTY REWARDS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS,

The key battlefront this week is with the 49 Republicans in the U.S. Senate.

Unfortunately, this is yet another crisis situation that demands your immediate action. (See ACTIONS IN BRIEF to the right.)

NumbersUSA is hearing from numerous sources inside and outside Congress that it appears that nearly all GOP Senators are prepared to stand behind a new amnesty plan.

Please start calling those GOP Senators as soon as you see this.

We need phones ringing all day today (Tuesday).

Before the Republicans announce this agreement publicly, your calls may cause some Senators to get cold feet.

(As an aside, I can report to you the good news that the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives appears to be more solid against any kind of amnesty than they were even last year.)

LAST YEAR'S OPPONENTS OF AMNESTY TRICKING THEMSELVES INTO SUPPORTING AMNESTY THIS YEAR

Forget about the protection we thought we had because 28 of the current GOP Senators voted NO on last year's S. 2611 amnesty.

At this moment, we cannot guarantee that a single Republican Senator would say "ABSOLUTELY NOT" to one of the amnesties now being conjured.

Why?

There appears to be a kind of mass hysteria with most of the GOP Senators persuaded that what the public has to have is an immigration solution this year -- it doesn't matter much what the solution is as long as there is a bill, according to the thinking right now.

They know that the public desperately wants major new enforcement against illegal immigration. But they apparently believe that the only way they can get that enforcement passed by a Democratic-controlled Congress is by rewarding the 12 million illegal aliens who are already here.

We call that an A-M-N-E-S-T-Y.

Additionally, we are hearing from several Senate offices that the Senators are thinking about giving a YES vote to an amnesty in return for some major special assistance from the Administration for their state.

You have to tell your Senators that no amount of pork for your state would balance out the harm done by passing any kind of amnesty. in this email:

DETAILS OF THE NEW REPUBLICAN AMNESTY

The Senators and their staffs are very tightly guarding the details of this emerging Republican amnesty.

But the best we can gather is that the GOP Senators are tricking themselves into believing that they can allow the 12 million officially-counted illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. and not call it an "amnesty" as long as they put some special frills on how it is done.

They are playing with the "touch-back" plan that is supposed to trick a stupid public into thinking that if illegal aliens go to a Tijuana bar for several hours -- or cross north to chat with a Mountie -- that they can come back for a green card and the public won't call it an amnesty.

They also are making a big deal about ENFORCEMENT FIRST. As we told a journalist today who assumed we favored "enforcement first," we absolutely are not part of that movement because that implies that first you have enforcement and then you give an amnesty.

A lot of these Republican Senators think that you will be so pleased with them for putting into place stronger enforcement that you will gladly approve of them rewarding 12 million illegal aliens with U.S. citizenship and importing tens of millions more foreign workers over the next several years.

YOUR JOB -- SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT -- IS TO CONVINCE YOUR GOP SENATOR'S STAFFERS THAT YOU WILL NOT BE TRICKED ...

... THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SMELL AN AMNESTY NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY PERFUME IT.

WHAT THE REPUBLICAN SENATORS NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU

If you have a Republican Senator, call him/her immediately.

202-224-3121

If you don't have a Republican Senator, you can be of the greatest help by calling a Republican Senator in a small state that is in your region of the country.

Find your two Senators and their local and Washington phone numbers by clicking here:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Tell their staff some of this:

1. You would rather see the 12 million illegal aliens continue in the "shadows" like now than have the Senate pass a "comprehensive" bill that lets the illegal aliens stay and work legally.

2. You have heard about their negotiations on a Republican Comprehensive Amnesty bill and are horrified that Sen. xmxmxm could possibly be considering rewarding illegal aliens with legal residence.

3. You don't want Enforcement First. That means an Amnesty Second. What you want is beefed up enforcement that will force more and more illegal aliens to go home on their own. Enforcement Only would be a better motto.

4. Any bill that increases the number of green cards to be given out to people who are currently illegal aliens is an amnesty.

5. You are insulted to hear that the Republican Senators are trying to figure out how they can trick voters into not thinking an amnesty is an amnesty. You aren't stupid and you resent political decisions that suggest otherwise.

6. If the Republican Senators can only represent the interests of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, they deserve to be in a permanent minority. With Senate Democrats willing to champion the Robber Baron business leaders' desires for cheap labor, this is the chance for Republicans to pick up popularity with American workers by opposing all increases in foreign workers.

GOP SENATORS WHO WERE GOOD LAST YEAR AND WHO ARE SAID TO BE WAVERING THIS YEAR

These 28 voted against S. 2611 last year when that giant amnesty passed the Senate.

We suspect many of them wanted to vote for it to satisfy the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. But in the end, they opposed it out of fear of what the voters in their state would say.

When you call these Senators, thank them for voting against amnesty last year and suggest that it makes no sense to stain their record with an amnesty of any kind this year.

PRO-AMNESTY REPUBLICAN SENATORS LAST YEAR

These are the Republicans who voted for the S. 2611 amnesty last year.

Most of them are troubled by how unpopular their action was back home. Your job this week is TO remind them of how that discomfort felt.

Several of these have indicated they are interested in standing with the public this time around if that is possible.
