Obama To Israel: We Won’t Defend You If Peace Talks Fail - IMPEACH NOW

Obama To Israel: We Won’t Defend You If Peace Talks Fail

    March 3, 2014 11:51 am 0 comments Views: 1315

Once again, President Obama is trying to flex his bully pulpit muscle with Israel instead of with the Palestinians. While he demands Israel works out a peace deal with the Palestinians, he is making no similar demand to the very people and organizations that threaten Israel's right to exist.
In an interview with Bloomberg, President Obama said time is running out for Israel to make peace with the people who have it in their charter to destroy Israel, the Palestinians, and Mr Obama's message to Netanyahu, who he is due to meet with on Monday, is, “If not now, when? And if not you, Mr. Prime Minister, then who?”
So, according to Barack Hussein Obama, who barely understands the real threats to Israel, it is up to them to make peace with the people who want to destroy them, but not the other way around. If that does not happen, President Obama said, "then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited."
Obama is a master at deception and is doing to Israel just as he did with the United States Congress in budget negotiations where his message was basically, "I'm willing to negotiate with Republicans and long as they agree to everything I want."
Read more below from The Times of Israel:
Israel can expect to face international isolation and possible sanctions from countries and companies across the world if Benjamin Netanyahu fails to endorse a framework agreement with the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama cautioned on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Israeli prime minister.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Obama stressed that time was running out for Israel to achieve a peace deal, and added that he believed Netanyahu had the capacity to rally Israel’s citizens behind an agreement.
But if Netanyahu “does not believe that a peace deal with the Palestinians is the right thing to do for Israel, then he needs to articulate an alternative approach,” Obama said.
“There comes a point where you can’t manage this anymore, and then you start having to make very difficult choices,” he said. [...]
The president went on to condemn in no uncertain terms Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank, and said that though his allegiance to the Jewish state was permanent, building settlements across the Green Line was counterproductive and would make it extremely difficult for the US to defend Israel from painful repercussions in the international community.
“If you see no peace deal and continued aggressive settlement construction — and we have seen more aggressive settlement construction over the last couple years than we’ve seen in a very long time — if Palestinians come to believe that the possibility of a contiguous sovereign Palestinian state is no longer within reach, then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited,” Obama said.

    Obama Abandons Israel

“Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.” (Psalm 34:13)

United States President Barack Obama is laying down some ground rules when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. In an interview with Bloomberg, Obama warned Israel that it could expect sanctions and international isolation should Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fail to support a framework peace agreement.

In the interview, Obama quoted the Jewish sage Rabbi Hillel when he stated that his message to Netanyahu is: “If not now, when? And if not you, Mr. Prime Minister, then who?” Obama criticized Netanyahu and said that the Israeli prime minister “does not believe that a peace deal with the Palestinians is the right thing to do for Israel.” He suggested that Netanyahu “articulate an alternative approach.”

When it comes to the Palestinians, Obama was very blunt about how he views Palestinian action thus far in the current round of peace negotiations. Obama reiterated that PA President Mahmoud Abbas was the most politically moderate leader the Palestinians could hope for.

Now, when it comes to peace, the ball is in Israel’s court.

“There comes a point where you can’t manage this anymore, and then you start having to make very difficult choices,” Obama explained. “Do you resign yourself to what amounts to a permanent occupation of the West Bank? Is that the character as a state for a long period of time? Do you perpetuate, over the course of a decade or two decades, more and more restrictive policies in terms of Palestinian movement? Do you place restrictions on Arab-Israelis in ways that run counter to Israel’s traditions?”

Obama urged Netanyahu and Abbas to “reach past their differences and arrive at a framework that can move us to peace.” Obama still believes that Abbas is “sincere about his willingness to recognize Israel and its right to exist,” regardless of the repeated statements of Abbas and other PA officials that it would never recognize Israel.

When asked about a possible fallout between Israel and the Palestinians, Obama offered a “veiled threat” to Israel: The United States would no longer be able to effectively defend Israel. Obama condemned Israeli construction activities in settlements and East Jerusalem, arguing that building settlements was the most counterproductive action to peace Israel could make.

“If you see no peace deal and continued aggressive settlement construction – and we have seen more aggressive settlement construction over the last couple of years than we’ve seen in a very long time,” Obama said. “If Palestinians come to believe that the possibility of a contiguous sovereign Palestinian state is no longer within reach, then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited.”

The latest round of peace talks brokered by the U.S. and led by Secretary of State John Kerry appear to be hitting a dead end. Just last week, PA Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat announced that the Palestinians would no longer take part in peace talks past the April deadline.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, who is currently in the United States, is expected to meet with Obama at the White House later today. The peace framework will most likely be presented to Netanyahu this week and Abbas on March 17th when the PA prime minister meets with Obama.

Glick to Obama: 'You're Not Scaring Us'

    by Joel B. Pollak 2 Mar 2014 764 post a comment

Caroline Glick, Jerusalem Post columnist and author of the forthcoming The Israeli Solution: A One-State Plan for Peace in the Middle East, reacted swiftly Sunday evening to President Barack Obama's suggestion that he would warn Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday that time is running out for Israel to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians: "I think Obama needs to realize that he is not scaring us," she said.

Obama made his comments in a Thursday interview with Jeffrey Goldberg, which was released Sunday afternoon. He warned that "the window is closing for a peace deal that both the Israelis can accept and the Palestinians can accept--in part because of changes in demographics," and added that Israel was on a path "to what amounts to a permanent occupation of the West Bank," along with international pressure and isolation.

Glick disputed Obama's claims vigorously. "The demographic data [Obama] is using to threaten Israel with destruction are phony. Even officials at the U.S. Census Bureau privately acknowledge that demographics work in Israel's favor and to the Palestinians' detriment," she said, noting that Palestinian growth had been inflated.

"When he talks about a permanent occupation, we speak of a permanent liberation. We are not 'occupying' the West Bank of the Jordan. These areas are part of the sovereign territory allocated to the Jewish people by the international community as far back as 1922. They were never granted to anyone else in a legally binding way.

"More than three quarters of the Jews of Israel believe in incorporating all or parts of the West Bank into Israel on a permanent basis," she added. "We know the two-state peace plan is a lie. We know the PLO wants to destroy Israel more than it wants a Palestinian state. And we know that we will not lose our Jewish majority if we incorporate the West Bank into Israel.

"He says, beware and we say, 'Bring it on. We aren't afraid of you.'"
