President Obama's Uncle Onyango Obama, currently in custody in Massachusetts on DUI and immigration charges, has much to teach Americans about how illegal immigrants have been able to get documentation and function in society. "Uncle Omar," as the president referred to him in his bestseller, Dreams from My Father, has a valid Massachusetts drivers license, which supposedly requires a Social Security number to acquire.

Kerry Picket of the Washington Times, covers the efforts of Boston Herald columnist, talk show host, and national treasure Howie Carr to get to the bottom of Uncle Omar's phony documentation. On his show, Carr said:

"According to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles he has a valid driver's license and you can't get a valid driver's license, supposedly, unless you have a social security number. And I asked them (RMV), 'Well how the hell did he get a license if he never had a social security number? Maybe I'm just a little mister naive.' But they said that they couldn't tell me because he had the license for at least 20 years, so he had gotten it back in their pre-computer days."

Pressing on, Carr discovered:

Massachusetts welfare workers assigned hundreds of dummy Social Security numbers to illegal immigrants to enable them to receive millions of dollars in state benefits.Federal officials said Wednesday, there's nothing illegal about it. But Gov. Michael Dukakis says it's got to stop because it goes against his new efforts to crack down on aid to illegal aliens, which he says the state can no longer afford.The practice started after Dukakis issued a 1985 executive order barringstate agencies from asking people applying for state services about theircitizenship status.But citizens or not, the computerized welfare records required a caseidentification number for each person, and that had to be a nine-digit number since for most people the ID is the same as their Social Security number.

The effort to ease illegal immigrants into the mainstream with phony documentation thus has the fingerprints of a Democrat presidential nominee. Uncle Omar's nephew now sits in the White House. Perhaps the president can be asked to comment on his uncle's ability to evade the law, and the role of the official blind to immigration status embodied in his own policies, such as sanctuary cities.

Thank God, Uncle Omar didn't kill anyone, while driving drunk.

Update: AP reports that ICE had an existing deportation or removal order, but for reasons not apparent, was able to live his documented life. The White House has had no comment.

Update: By strange coincidence, Barack Obama and his uncle both were Massachusetts residents in the late 1980s, while soem interesting questions have been raised about the president's Social Security number. Don't expect any of the journalists leaking Rick Perry's college transcript or investigating Michele Bachmann's husband's psychology practice, to be intrigued. Hat tip: Lucianne Goldberg

Well, I wonder how many times "Uncle Omar" has been out driving drunk. How about insurance , how about outstanding parking violations, or with a suspended license. I don't know for sure----but where there's smoke, there's fire.

I guess being a deceptive pos runs in the family!

We know for a fact that obama has at least two illegal invading family members squatting in this country. How many more are out there. How in the hell did this guy get elected! This country deserves a hell of a lot better than obama and his contempt for this country!

I did see a funny comment on the Huffington Post, of all places:

"Obama must have got his good looks from his mother's side, then."

According to his lawyer he's working at Cont liquors again. How is that possible?

A giggling Onyango Obama -- the president’s illegal alien half uncle -- made a brief appearance in Framingham District Court today on charges he was drunk when he nearly struck an unmarked police cruiser last month.

Obama, 67, was visibly amused at the media spectacle, stifling laughter several times before his 30-second court appearance where a judge set a Nov. 17 pre-trial conference.

Obama did not acknowledge a Herald reporter’s questions upon arrival at Framingham District Court and neither he nor his lawyer made any comment on his way out where they were followed to the parking lot by a horde of media.


His attorney, P. Scott Bratton, did, however, tell the Herald that Obama, who has been living illegally in the United States for nearly 20 years, has returned to work at Conti Liquors in Framingham.

"He has. He’s doing well," Bratton said.

Obama was accompanied in court today by two attorneys and an unidentified male supporter. The courtroom was packed with some members of the media, but mostly with other defendants hauled in for the usual round of arraignments at the county court located in suburban Boston.

Onyango, who had a valid driver’s license and Social Security card when he was arrested last month, was in the U.S. illegally having already faced a 1992 deportation order. Immigration officials have ordered him to "check in" with them.

When he was arrested by Framingham police on suspicion of drunken driving Aug. 24, he suggested his first call should be to the White House. A spokesman for the president told the Herald that call was never made. He actually called his boss at Conti’s Liquors.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone has also vowed to prosecute Obama to the fullest extent possible on the OUI charge.
