U.S. House passed the Peru Free Trade Agreement

I just heard this reported on C-SPAN. The Peru FTA is expected to fly though the U.S. Senate.

This President is determined to get his Western Hemisphere Union even if he has to do it piecemeal.

I fear that is how they will get amnesty - if we put the same jokers back in office.

    Standby, incoming (illegals from Peru).

When this was being debated last night on the U.S. House floor, a Rep. said the Peru FTA would have the same effect that NAFTA did where farmers are concerned. She said those folks would lose their livelihood and that many of them would attempt to illegally immigrate to the United States in search of opportunity and a way to feed their families.

Corporate agribusiness will be taking over Peru also.

I wonder if they will patent Peru's indigenous plants as they have in India - and probably elsewhere?

This still has to go through the Senate, but unfortunately I doubt there will be an outcry to stop it. As I said before, it's expected to fly through the Senate with little resistance.

This is absolutely outrageous!! Our congress is bankrupting America with its trade agreements. NAFTA has done way too much damage and here they are instead of repealing NAFTA adding another devastating bill that will rob more Americans of their livelihoods and subject America to the whims of those that profit most from these one sided deals, ex. China!!!

Also, did you know we import more gold from Peru than anywhere in the world. The fat cat gold traders on Wall Street love the this agreement. Supposedly there are American mining companies operating out of Peru as we speak (they pay their low-skilled miners next to nothing). By the way, Caterpillar (a U.S. Company) lobbied hard for this. Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Well, now I guess Caterpillar, with the large market this FTA will create in Peru, will soon start outsourcing more American jobs.

We're seriously bleeding folks, and our elected Congress and President are insistent on stretching the wound. They have no interest in saving the patient (us) - it's all about the doctors financial well-being (corporate America)!

The object of the global game is to make everyone in the world poor including the US and then have a few rich, rich people. If you think of Chavez or you think of Castro, it will be like that. Only it will be the whole world and Bush will rule us all.
