Ohio Governor to Endorse Clinton

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has won the endorsement of Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, a potentially crucial swing state ally if the New York senator becomes her party's presidential nominee.

The Clinton campaign has scheduled a conference call Friday afternoon to announce a major endorsement. Three Democrats familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity in advance of the official word, said it would be Strickland.

Strickland, a former congressman from southern Ohio, was elected governor in 2006 and has enjoyed popularity since then, including in the more conservative and rural parts of the state. He has been widely mentioned as a potential vice presidential candidate for the 2008 Democratic ticket.
