FLORIDA - Orlando Nightclub shooting leaves over 50 dead is being investigated as an act of terrorism. Islamic State news affiliate states Omar Mateen is a Islamic State Fighter and has accepted responsibility for the terror attack. The Nightclub shooting is also being investigated as a hate crime, called the worst mass murder in US History. Omar Mateen was on the FBI Terror watch list, but had not been determined an immediate threat until today. Mateen's social media accounts are being scrubbed now. New details are expected to unfold daily over the next several weeks.

Omar Marteen called 911 pledged support to ISIS amid mass shooting at Pulse nightclub, FBI reports.

Omar Mateen, identified as the gunman who killed about 50 people and injured at least 53 at a popular nightclub in Orlando, pledged his support for ISIS and invoked the names of the Boston marathon bombers in 911 calls made amid his attack on the crowded nightclub, according to the FBI.

Ronald Hopper, FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge, in a press conference Sunday confirmed the shooter’s references to the terrorist network. An agent for the ATF said the shooter had legally purchased two guns, a handgun and a long gun, within the past week.
