Pelosi: Death of 40-hour work week means freedom to ‘follow your passion’

Pelosi: Death of 40-hour work week means freedom to ‘follow your passion’

September 23, 2013 by Joe Saunders 122 Comments
Americans with a lot free time on their hands thanks to Obamacare can spend it pursuing their happiness instead of earning a living, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday.
During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Candy Crowley read Pelosi part of a letter signed by union goon James Hoffa Jr. that described Obamacare’s impact on employers as a way to “destroy the foundation of the 40-hour work week.”
“That’s pretty tough from a loyal Democratic constituency,” said Crowley, sometimes considered a pretty loyal Democratic constituency herself.
    Pelosi was unfazed.
Some parts of Obamacare need to be clarified, she acknowledged, but losing that 40-hour work week will really free Americans to “pursue your happiness … follow your passion.”
“Overwhelmingly, for the American people, this is a liberation,” the San Francisco millionaire said dreamily, possibly confusing “the American people” who have to make a living with her fellow guests at George Soros’s wedding Saturday in New York.
“It’s about wellness, it’s about prevention, it’s about a healthy America,” she said.
Actually, it’s about time she hung it up.

Obamanomics: A Scam to Grow Government

Posted by Rodney Lee on Sep 22, 2013

That’s right – Obamanomics isn’t a philosophy – it’s a bill of goods, sold to the uninformed masses to grow government and create dependency.

You are getting sleepy.. sleeepy. When you wake, you’ll be broke and think it’s not my fault.. Pay no attention to Joe Biden.. I picked him to make me look good..

It’s too easy just to say people want free stuff. There is a large swath of politicians who actively preach the notion that only if we “stimulate” the economy with taxpayer money, borrowing, printing and spending – it will make the economy grow and create wealth.
That would never work for your family, your business or your personal life – and you damn sure would never teach your kids such an incredibly bad piece of philosophy – yet, somehow people in this country vote for it. Peter Ferrara at Forbes really nails the proponents of big government and how they convince everyday people that if you’re in debt, you only have to spend more – a lot more – in order to get out of it.
Obamanomics: The Final Nail In the Discredited Keynesian Coffin

Keynesian economics is the false vision of human action which says the way to promote economic recovery and renewed growth is through increased government spending, deficits and debt. If that sounds nuts, that’s because it is.

The idea is that the increased government spending and deficits will increase demand in the economy for more production, and that producers will increase supply to meet that demand, hiring more workers and reducing unemployment in the process. Keynesian economics arose in the 1930s in response to the Depression. It never worked then, as the recession of 1929 extended into the decade long Great Depression. And it never worked anywhere it’s been tried since then, in the U.S. or abroad.

By the 1970s, Keynesian policies had produced double digit unemployment, double digit inflation, and double digit interest rates, all at the same time, along with four successive worsening recessions from 1969 to 1982. Keynesian monetary policy involves running up the money supply to increase demand, with artificially lowered interest rates promoting more spending. That is where the inflation came from.

Ronald Reagan explicitly scrapped Keynesian economics for the more modern supply side economics, which holds that economic growth results from incentives meant to boost production. That results from reduced tax rates, which enable producers to keep a higher proportion of what they produce.

Steve Forbes wrote in Forbes magazine in 2008: “Between the early 1980s and 2007 we lived in an economic Golden Age. Never before have so many people advanced so far economically in so short a period of time as they have during the last 25 years. Until the credit crisis, 70 million people a year [worldwide] were joining the middle class. The U.S. kicked off this long boom with the economic reforms of Ronald Reagan, particularly his enormous income tax cuts. We burst from the economic stagnation of the 1970s into a dynamic, innovative, high tech-oriented economy. Even in recent years the much maligned U.S. did well. Between year-end 2002 and year-end 2007 U.S. growth exceeded the entire size of China’s economy.”

In other words, the growth in the U.S. economy from 2002 to 2007 was the equivalent of adding the entire economy of China to the U.S. economy.

Apparently determined to prove once more that Keynesian economics doesn’t work, Obama’s first major act in office was to pursue the unreconstructed Keynesianism of the nearly $1 trillion so-called “stimulus,” which we now know didn’t stimulate anything except government spending, deficits and debt. Keynesian economics does not work because if the government borrows a trillion dollars out of the private economy to spend a trillion dollars back into it, at best there is no gain for the economy on net. More likely, it is a net drag on the economy, because the private sector in general will spend the money more efficiently and productively than the public sector, and the greater deficits and debt imply future tax increases, which are also contractionary.
While a lot of Americans thought they were electing a progressive, forward-thinking guy, Barack Obama has been nothing but tired, backward, myopic and the most failed President of all time. How he got re-elected is simply a mystery. Or a crime.

Boehner is Coaching Obama to Help Pass Attack on Syria

This is sickening. It's time for new leadership. Agree?

The level of corruption in DC is difficult for honest people to comprehend. Right now, even though most Americans do not want to go to war to prop up the Syrian rebels, the leadership of both parties are working together to do just that.
The response to Obama’s plan to attack Syria has resulted in powerful backlash from conservatives, liberals, libertarians, and others. Undeterred, we’re now seeing the leadership of both parties work together — not to achieve common goals they share with Americans, but to manipulate and give Americans what we don’t want… namely, an expensive war propping up radicals we shouldn’t support.
In fact, John Boehner has gone so far as to “coach” Obama on how he should approach the GOP to get as many votes possible. Remember, the House right now will likely shoot down Obama’s plan. This means that Boehner is going against the GOP, against GOP voters, and against the American people… to help Obama. It’s surreal.

We can defund ObamaCare now! Call your Senators!

    September 23, 2013
Establishment Republicans and their liberal counterparts want you to believe that there is no way to stop ObamaCare in the current debate over the House-passed Continuing Resolution. Do not be fooled! We have never been closer to stopping ObamaCare. Let your Senators know you want this atrocious bill stopped NOW.
The proposed CR must be passed by September 30th in order to keep the government running. This CR keeps the government running through December 15th but defunds ObamaCare. The same Congressional staffers who are fighting efforts to stop ObamaCare went to President Obama begging for an exemption for themselves to the terrible law. Let them know we want an exemption, too!
As earlier CR fights have shown us, liberals won’t compromise on their big government projects, but with the help of the liberal media, they get away with blaming conservatives for forcing a government shutdown if they stand strong. We need you to let your Senators, both liberal and conservative, know that defunding ObamaCare is not debatable.
Tell your Senators that we will make no distinction — they are either in favor of stopping this law before it goes into effect on October 1st or they are not. They are either for destroying the 40-hour work week and dismantling the best health care system in the world or they are not. They are either for removing people from their current plans and pushing them into a government-run, single-payer system or they are not. And they must decide now!!
Tell your Senators that the American people want the same exemption to ObamaCare that the Administration is providing businesses, Congressional leadership and their staff. What is bad for Congress is bad for the American people, and defunding ObamaCare through this House-passed CR is the only viable option right now! Read this Breitbart article for a fuller understanding of the current fight in the Senate.
We must make sure Republican leadership in the Senate understands that we expect them to lead the fight to block any effort to strike the defunding language. We also need liberals to know that we will blame them for forcing a government shutdown if they insist on protecting ObamaCare, when we the people are demanding that they protect us from it!
