Pennsylvania Ripe for SAVE Act Support

Pennsylvania has 19 members in the House, 11 D, 8 R. The Dems won 4 of those seats in 2006 in close defeats of GOP incumbents. Six R's and 2 D's have signed the SAVE Act.

Here are the 3 Dems elected in 2006 in GOP districts that haven't signed the SAVE Act, and the location of the districts. I'll have to post the local newspaper links later, unless someone wants to get a head start.

Joe Sestak, United States Navy Vice Admiral, PA 7th, Delaware County, Suburban Philadelphia. Here's a map of his district http://www.sestak.house.gov/images/distmap.gif

Patrick Murphy, United States Army Captain, PA 8th, Bucks County.

Jason Altmire, PA 4th, Suburban Pittsburgh. Here's his website's link on the issue of illegal immigration http://www.jasonaltmire.com/page.asp?PageId=40

I don't know the story with the 2 GOP holdouts, but they'll feel the pressure to come aboard if the Dems break ranks.

Murphy has already said he won't sign the Discharge Petition. He wants it to go through committee. Pelosi sent the first five or six bills to the floor with committee her first 100 days as Speaker. So the hypocrisy is so transparent.

Tim Murphy objects to the cradle to grave, id requirements in the bill.It is another way to national id.
Do you ever wonder how we could get so many to agree on this, I no longer trust my government. Nancy Pelosi scares me.

Holden hasn't signed the Discharge Petition either. His staffer couldn't give me an explanation why, when he is a co-signer of the Act. This smells of political posturing.

    They're all cosponsors

And another thing: Sestak, Murphy, and Altmire are all cosponsors of the bill. (13 of the 19 PA reps are consponsors - 6/8 GOP, 7/11 DEM)
SO SIGN THE DAMN DISCHARGE PETITION!

Craig Williams is running against Sestak. He actually has a website.

We need to get these GOP candidates to start making some noise about the SAVE Act discharge petition.

This is a big issue in PA

Democrats Chris Carney and Paul Kanjorski have signed the discharge petition. If you dig a little deeper, lo and behold, illegal immigration was a factor in the primaries for the GOP challengers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Sta ... ns%2C_2008

Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district: Chris Carney (D) may face a difficult reelection bid in this district that he won after widely-publicized allegations of incumbent Republican Don Sherwood’s extramarital affair with and alleged abuse of Cynthia Ore, who later settled for an undisclosed amount. Carney defeated Sherwood 53% to 47%. However, the district has a considerable Republican tilt. Chris Hackett, a successful CPA, is the Republican nominee. Hackett defeated Dan Meuser, the head of Pride Mobility in the April 22 Repuublican primary. Meuser was recently embarrassed when it was revealed that his business was fined for employing illegal aliens in 1997.[185] Bush won here 60% to 40%.

Pennsylvania's 11th congressional district: Incumbent Paul Kanjorski (D) has seldom had difficulty at the polls, but this year could be different. He faces a challenge from Hazelton Mayor Lou Barletta.[citation needed] Barletta ran against Kanjorski in 2002, losing by 14 points, but then he was not widely known and was heavily outspent. Now, he's a nationally recognized opponent of illegal immigration, which gives him name recognition and a potential fundraising base he didn't have before.[citation needed]
