Today was another eye opener for me. I had a "heated" conversation with my sister-in-law. She is a constant proponent of the illegals here. She keeps insisting they need the work, they had nothing in Mexico, they are treated terribly there (when she says this I think she's referring to the indigenous Mexicans versus the Spanish-Mexicans) and on like that. She would not listen when I stated the fact that 95% of Mexican nationals had jobs before they came here, and that even IF they didn't they were breaking our laws by coming here without permission.
I fail to understand why people will stand up for these people. She kept saying "there are plenty of Russians here that are not citizens". Now tell me, is that possible for someone from overseas to come here, as easily, undetected by our agents at ports of entry (say like airports)? Personally I cannot see how they could get by without a passport and/or visa. She insisted many are here illegally.
Other than pure ignorant arrogance what is it that makes people think the illegals are helping or benefiting anyone but themselves and their relatives in Mexico?
I would love to have some really good information to print out for her and others, to show them they have it all wrong, they are misinformed. Show me the links people, I know about CIS, good stuff, and am looking for anything else that is comprehensive.
