Senate denies funds for new border fence
Tell the people what they want to hear, then turn your back on them and hope they go away- that's our Senate. What a country!
Less than two months after voting overwhelmingly to build 370 miles of new fencing along the border with Mexico, the Senate yesterday voted against providing funds to build it.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, the Alabama Republican whose amendment to fund the fence was killed on a 71-29 vote. "The things we do often sound very good, but we never quite get there."
Mr. Sessions offered his amendment to authorize $1.8 billion to pay for the fencing that the Senate voted 83-16 to build along high-traffic areas of the border with Mexico. In the same vote on May 17, the Senate also directed 500 miles of vehicle barriers to be built along the border.
"If we never appropriate the money needed to construct these miles of fencing and vehicle barriers, those miles of fencing and vehicle barriers will never actually be constructed," Mr. Sessions told his colleagues yesterday before the vote.

June, it would be interesting to see how they voted. I'm especially interested in how Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota voted since he was all for border security and he had the courage to step away from his party on illegal immigration.
Does anyone know if he "stayed with the American people" yesterday ??Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Thanks Moosetracks.
As usual, Allen (VA) voted in favor of funding, and Warner voted against . In more than a few correspondences, Warner has said (paraphrased), the Mexicans are the least of our worries.
OK, I concur - in a way - but let's get real, if the crossings are so easy, how many others are getting in and why do they want to be here?
By year end, we will have spent a TRILLION dollars securing borders in the Middle East, and our own Senate won't even endorse $2 Billion to secure our borders. What is wrong with this picture?

Well let Warner tell that to an American who has lost a loved one to an illegal, or been violated by an illegal!
I have to send another nasty email to McConnell !Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!

Well, at least Sen. Dole (R-NC) and Sen. Burr (R-NC) voted for it. Now why can't those two get any thing done to encourage North Carolina to get tough on illegal immigrants?
It's no secret the Senate routinely approves things without providing the funding necessary to make it happen. The same thing happen in 1986 - lack of funding was why promised enforcement never followed that amnesty. The American people need to realize that nothing has changed, enforcement sounds great, but without the money to make it happen - it doesn't happen.
The Senate need to know, we're on to their game!"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**
