Should we be posting the full names of all of these people on our side out in the open like this? We have a rule against personal info on the boards.

Some of these people could be in sensitive career fields folks.

Well, I recieved this petition in the form of an e-mail today...signed it....forwarded it.....then noticed something peculiar. I will insert a quote of an e-mail which I sent to the person I received it from as well as to those I sent it to. Make of it what you will, for good or bad.

    "Hello fellow pettitioners,
Although I have participated, signing and forwarding this petition, you
should alll know that the address that this will be sent to certainly isn't
President Bush's "inbox" as has been indicated(comments@whitehouse.com). Dot
com is a commercial address as are all .com's. Whitehouse.com appears to be
a site disseminating info about all candidates for president, but is not
affiliated in any way with the government of the US as is stated on their
homepage. The official site for the white house ends with dot
gov(whitehouse.gov). I don't really plan on researching whether or not
whitehouse.com is any sort of legitimate(unaffiliated, unbiased)
organization. It certainly may be, and who knows, maybe this information
will somehow reach the people who need to see it. On the other hand, it may
simply be a marketing tool in order to obtain legitimate e-mail addresses
for "whitehouse.com" to send to or sell in the future...e-mail addresses
that can now be matched to your real name as people can go backwards thru
the string of forwarding and match your name with it's corresponding e-mail
    address. Am I being paranoid...I don't know...maybe it's nothing. Then
    again.....
OK, I did a little checking, the poll appears to be legitimate. Put out by
    the organization
    ALIPAC(http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... ic&t=33011).
However, the address they said it would be sent to is
"president@whitehouse.gov". Somewhere along the way in the string, this
address got changed to comments@whitehouse.com, a polling website. Either a
mistake was made somewhere along the line, or the string of e-mails was
"hijacked" to point it to the .com site. The nature of this type of
dissemination means that many of the "copies' of this e-mail pettition will
never reach "president@whitehouse.gov"...who knows how many will be lost.
Feel free to send this backward down the string of pettitioners so they all
may know how we've been "hood-winked". To those who I forwarded the petition to....If you feel like it, you may change the address at the bottom of the e-mail to president@whitehouse.gov, so that the last person sends it to the right place. I will post at ALIPAC to let them know what happened."

My mantra is: when in doubt, check it out at http://www.Snopes.com.

It has saved me much embarrassment by not forwarding bogus emails, you know, hoaxes and Photoshopped pix.

Agreed, I don’t think this is such a good idea.

    ALIPAC(http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... ic&t=33011).

Ok I just read this part of the post and am now a little confused.

I signed one of these in the past. Exactly the same wording.
"If you always do what You've always done, You'll always get what you always got!"

“If you ain’t mad, you ain’t paying attention.â€

Sorry if my post was confusing.....the explaination is somewhat in reverse of what it should have been. My point was that I received the petition, but when I got to the bottom where the link to send it to was located, I noticed that it was a link to "comments@whitehouse.com", instead of "president@whitehouse.gov" as was the original intention of Mary Takami....the originator. Someone along the way had changed it.
I also realize that ALIPAC actually may have nothing to do with the petition, and that it was simply posted by a user(my bad, the price for not researching this completely). I was naturally passionate about the topic, and let it get the better of me. Instead of ignoring it like most other e-mails of this type, I was excited to keep it going. When I realized someone substituted the address to send it to with a different one, I panicked and tried to alert the people I forwarded it to about the wrong address at the bottom of the e-mail. Before alerting them, I googled Mary Takami to see if she was affiliated with this whitehouse.com address. The search results brought me to this forum and I prematurely associated the petition with ALIPAC. What I quoted above is the text of the e-mails I sent to the people who I forwarded the petition to. Sorry for the trouble everyone.....DAMN INTERNET, LOL....I'm embarassed, as I really am much more internet savy than I appear.

I included this address only so the people I e-mailed could see where this post is located on this site.

My mantra is: when in doubt, check it out at www.Snopes.com.
I actually did see this at snopes....they could only suggest that this woman(mary takami) was a racist because she insists people follow our immigration laws
