comments@whitehouse.com is the correct address for the president and all his staff. Sorry it got so kerfuffled.

Could be pointless and certainly could be ineffectual.

Personally, I never take Snopes as the complete gospel. I am amazed at people who seem to all the time. Organizations have a way of putting forth their own agenda.

The arguments on this seemed more politically driven than actually verifying the validity of the petition.

    Partition started by MaryTakami

The address to send the partition to is NOT the WHITEHOUSE!

the address for the Whitehouse is whitehouse.gov, not whitehouse.com.

Thanks mrqwerty! I'm surprised no one here caught that yet (I think I remember what type of site that one is...)

Online petitions aren't worth the pixels they're printed on. You can get software to run a script to add a million fake names to any "petition". I think by adding your real name, and especially one of your real email addresses, or other sensitive information, you just opened a door to a flood of spam.

It would be nice if petitions like this worked, but it seems they don't. But phone calls work. We've proven that over and over.
    Faxes work.
    Letters work.
    Emails work.

Forget the online petitions. The consensus is they are a waste of time.

Sigh, ok I see that this thread is ancient but this same petitition invaded my inbox AGAIN. Am I the only one to notice that all, yes all these online petitions start with Mary Takami of Calif? Does anyone know who the hell she is? I actually came upon this thread by doing a google search of her name!

Neither you'all nor I have the time or the resourses to bother with these things that probably come to naught. We are fighting a war for our country here & soon we will need all our time & resourses to send letters, faxes, emails, & phonecalls to the traitors who infect Washington! let's do what works!

I find this interesting. Some time back I got a petition in my email. I can't remember what it was about now, but I sent it on to the White House at the email address it gave, which if I remember correctly was comment@whitehouse.gov. Then, today when I read this thread, I remembered I had gotten two of these petitions today. Thinking them legitimate, I signed the first one and sent it to my contacts. Then, a while later I got the second email regarding Social Security. I explained to the friend I got it from that I had already signed one and sent it on about an hour before. She responded and told me to just forget it. So, I deleted it.

I just went back to my "deleted" file and tried to send the petition I deleted to comment@whitehouse.gov...and it came back...Just like the one I sent to the same address a few months back. So, what's the point of these "petitions"? They don't go anywhere. They are returned to whomever sent them! I rechecked the addrress it said to send it to and it's "comment", not "comments".
