CIA Director David Petraeus, who surely has intimate knowledge of what really went down on September 11 in Benghazi, Libya, was suddenly “discovered” after the election to have had an extramarital affair, and he resigned abruptly Friday. His resignation is right before his expected testimony to Congress, which he will now skip.

(Petraeus apparently had been carrying on with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, whose name and book title, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus,” suddenly have a salacious, almost James Bond-ian ring to them.)

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who surely has intimate knowledge of what really went down on September 11 in Benghazi, Libya, took the hit for President Obama pre-election by accepting “responsibility” for the total lack of security without ever saying what happened, and now she’s out of her job at State.

AFRICOM commander Gen. Circles within circles and curliques. The non-interpretation in the article above seems a tad simplicistic.

But if Obama really wants to cool Middle East conflicts and reassure Americans of the transparency of government, he should refuse to accept Petraeus' resignation and order him to testify before Congress.

A possible reality but maybe not the worst is: Ambassador Stevens was involved in a rogue CIA operation, gun-running to Syria to topple Prime Minister Assad. Everyone at the top knew about the gun-running and couldn't stop it. Everyone also knew of a coming attack on Stevens. The ones at the top -- Obama, Clinton, Petraeus - decided to not stop that.

The Wall Street Journal reports today that the FBI found classified documents on the computer of CIA Director David Petraeus’ lover and biographer, Paula Broadwell. As Business Insider reports:

In September, the FBI began to do a legal analysis to see if there were any charges that could be brought. They decided to interview Broadwell.
During her first interview, she admitted that she was having an affair with Petraeus and gave up her computer to the investigators.
On it, they found classified documents.
Petraeus reportedly maintains that he did not provide Broadwell with the documents.
